About

Svartnes is a STOL airport serving the municipality of Vardø in northern Norway. It is primarily operated by Widerøe DHC 8s, and was recently (2019) re-paved with new GA parkings. As with the rest of the region the airport enjoys a very dry climate; virtually all precipitation falls during winter. Ceilings at this airport are frequently low and fog often rolls in from the east to reduce visibility.

 

This airport uses 100% default assets plus a few custom apron-runway textures.

 

Changelog 1.4.1 hotfix: Fixed pathing error in AirportServices, removing ground services for ALL other airports. I apologise that this went unnoticed. On the other hand, if you prefer the world that way you can just use the old 1.4 to achieve airports without ground services.
Changelog 1.4: Manual heightmapping, corrections to lighting, improved details near approaches including the tunnel, the moving van advert, and the beached fishing boat.

V 1.5 Changelog: Adjusted to make use of improved height mapping in Nordics DLC. Negligible impact.

 

V 1.5 Features

  • Corrected runway slope.
  • Improved airport markings, parkings, terrain, buildings.
  • Improved terrain (mainly east of runway and along approaches).
  • Think the Nazca lines are cool? Come see the apron lines of Vardø and be amazed.
  • 4.5 degree PLASI.

Known issues:

  • No satellite imagery.
  • No replacement for witch burning memorial yet.
  • Highly snow-resistant aprons/runway, or feverish activity from the cleaning crew.

Nice one ! I wish I could use it but misteriously, this mod is making all my airport ground services (cars, trucks, people) disappear. I've been removing and putting them back, mod by mod for hours in my Community Folder to find out which one is and this is unfortunately the one (just this one) making this issue.

When you say it's just this one, I don't suppose you also had v1.4 of ENBS/ENBV/ENVD in your folder? I used the same solution there as on ENSS.

I'm not sure ! I'm actually using 85% of all Norwegian aerodromes available here and checking one by one, I only noticed this happening with ENSS and out of the 3 you mentioned, I can confirm I'm running ENBS as well but no issues so far !

The yellow rectangles are called "Rectangles" in the SDK and allow a polygon to have a profile. A slope up and down. =)

Thanks a lot! Sloped polygons! Are they new? I had so much trouble with my scenery trying to give terraforming some realism....

They have a terrain profile same as runways. They've been in the SDK since the start, but they are horribly awkward to use.
