Look! There's a clearance between two high mountains!
Nice! Put an airfield there and make the runway heading straight into the mountains.
That's Strom Field, in a nutshell. The runway is 1800ft long and sitting between two close mountains and the runways are rotated towards the mountains. Landing is a challenging thing, especially on RWY 7.
Strom Field is located right next to Morton, WA, US and a few miles out of Mt. Rainer, making it a convenient place to explore the area and for a quick hop to Ranger Creek (21W).
The city is very interesting to explore as there are apparently more parked cars than residents and at least 4 huge timber and logging companies.
Airnav lists a land-base beacon (white green) but I could not spot it either from gmaps o street view so I'm ommitting it. Additionally, I tried to model the ditch along the runway but could not terraform such a narrow object without creating problems on the runway or nearby farm.
Strom was featured in Georender 6 by Richard Goldstein along with S86 Sky Harbor (no longer operative and dismantled to make place for a housing project).
This scenario concludes my Georender hommage series. (and my winter holidays :) )
Happy landings.
