    EGOS - RAF Shawbury - Image 1

    Description

I have been working on RAF Shawbury as I know this airfield. I am still very new to all of this so any pointers please mention them in the comments. At the minute I am currently applying textures to the faces rather than building a UV map, as I still don’t understand Blender fully yet. This was the first video I saw that was the most complicated in comparison to others https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0uKPWn2p8Y  this was also the easier way to apply textures so i hope this works for others some models are from the Sim library and the helicopters are in need of a paint.
I have modeled the hangars and trying to get to grips with the SDK with taxiway lights etc. I will be adding more as I slowly work through the modeling so please be patient.

RAF Shawbury is predominately a helicopter training unit which is why you won’t see many parking spaces available. As Helicopters are added into the sim I will try to remember to update.

I will be looking at the local airfields around Shawbury to building and then going further afield to the west as there doesn’t seem to be many that way.

    I hope you enjoy.

If you are still available this airport needs an update after MSFS 2020 SU16 which for example seems to have added extraneous autogen buildings that clash with the control tower and one of the green hangars, and there is a strange square terrain bump near the fire station. I think updating for SU16 would probably also make it compatible with MSFS 2024.

I'm currently working on coningsby as it has been highly requested. Once I've got them to a point yes I would like to get cosford done as that is where I am looking to learn to fly once we are allowed again.

This looks amazing, the E type Hangars and C type Aircraft servicing sheds(?) They look amazing. Fantastic job. This looks like an RAF station should. There's so much eye candy that I didn't mind being taken "the long way round ;)"

Thank you so much for commenting. Always concerned when you dont get many comments. I built a generic C type hangar but still need to add the offices. its getting there but slowly at the minute (Homeschooling etc)

As there isnt any helicopters yet i though id add some animated ones ;-)

    Thanks again for the comment.

Are you aware of the modellib.bgl naming issue?, here is the forum thread: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/scenery-creators-please-move-or-rename-your-modellib-bgl/307563 You could re-name it: EGOS-modellib.bgl This may prevent possible ctd's.

Daisy Mower, thank you so much for letting me know. I have just altered the library names and it is so much more smoother now. Thank you for passing the information on. I know the sdk has been having numerous issues.

    Version History

Good Evening, So this minor update you should hopefully see the addition of the Barrier Nets at either end of RWY 18/36 (Not operational as i have no idea without just animation) DRDF has been added and the Met Garden has been added. Only other thing so far is darkened the round hangars as they appears not to blend into the ground so stood out. Hope you enjoy :-) Any Bugs please report and i will do my best. Next update should hopefully include the ATC and sort the hangars out with their additional buildings on airside and distance to go markers as most Mil airfields have them. Thanks RFR (Kev)
