    EGXC - RAF Coningsby - Image 1

    Description

RAF Coningsby home for some of the RAF Typhoon Sqns 3(F) Sqn, 12 Sqn, 29 Sqn, XI(F) Sqn and BBMF.

RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire is one of two RAF Quick Reaction Alert (QRA) Stations which protect UK airspace (RAF Lossiemouth is the other). RAF Coningsby is home to two frontline, combat-ready squadrons and is the training station for Typhoon pilots. Almost 3,000 Service Personnel, Civil Servants, and contractors work at RAF Coningsby.

This is My 3rd RAF Station I have constructed RAF Shawbury & RAF Mona. This is still an ongoing project but as most are aware life gets in the way of some faster progress.

    In this version you will see;
    Version 1.0
    • Handcrafted Buildings ATC, Concrete Sheds (Inc Open lit ones) BFI (although terraforming didn’t work so well so just made by a model)
    • Distance to go marker boards
    • Arrester boards
    • Mil traffic lights (Permanently on red as the traffic lights only apply to vehicle traffic)
    • DRDF
    • RPAR
    Still to come:
    • BBMF Hangar
    • Fire Section (Struggling to find pictures for reference)
    • Gaydon hangars
    • Typhoon Maintenance Building
    • 12 Sqn Covers on Main ASP

I have tested and noticed I forgot to disable the aprons so you can just about see the outline on some taxiways etc. they will be removed on the next update.

ATC hasn’t been played with, so not 100% sure if it is accurate. I have found in clear skies the hangars are shiny but tried different textures and they don’t seem to stay dull.

Please enjoy I am definitely open for constructive criticism or bug reports

Very good, and obviously going to get better. Will you be adding Tattershall Castle? It is a prominent landmark.

can do :-) I suppose it's a landmark that can be seen from the airfield. I'll add it to my list. Thanks.

It is a good reference for VFR pilots.

Great start to a much needed site :)

Noted that if parked on the one of four dispersal points/parking at the end of the runway if you use AI to take off from one of them, the plane just turns left and runs down the grass alongside the runway?

Thanks for that, I've never used the AI but I might not of linked them with the runway. I will check that and rectify for the next updated.

putting static typhons on the main asp and 12 sqn shelters would be preferable to having parking spots and leave just a couple as at the present time we have no military a1 aircraft to use those parking spots
hope this clears up what I was saying keep up the good work.

Makes perfect sense now. Thanks for clearing that up ;) will try get some GPUs and portable fire extinguishers made next week to go with a static aircraft if I can find a free one :)

I will be looking forward to your next update, with no programable a1 at the moment dont think you would need to many parking spots as these would just fill up with ga .so make the most of it, you can always reinstate the parking at a later date.

Sorry what do you mean by programable a1. Are you on about GA filling the spots up if you've go AI traffic on?
I will remove some off of the main ASP and hopefully incorporate 12sqn shelters.

Hearing people are happy and waiting for updates does keep me interested in making it better.

    Thanks

Cheers Fella. I did my last tour at CGY (F3s) Thanks for your efforts.

The famous F3 :) glad you like it. I've not been based there yet, so hard to get buildings looking like they should which is why I've let the autogen buildings still pop up.

    Version History

So in this update you should hopefully see some static Aircraft dotted around as has been requested (they are very low poly aircraft and free models) Avro-Lanc Eurofighters Spitfire Lightnings 12 Sqn Run covers have been added to the Main ASP. Parking Slots have been reduced for this but also static aircraft have been placed. Textures have been resolved and hopefully now not as shiny. More updates will come in time. The issue with the AI pilot taking control of the aircraft hasn't been resolved not sure why. Parking slots have been linked to the main runway but i have no idea why it turns straight right and takes off on the grass. Please enjoy and your comments are very welcome good or bad.
