Add this additional overhead avionics tablet to your DC-3 featuring the Garmin Aera GPS system....
This mod is also available for the Beaver, Cessna 152 and Grravel/Carbon and Robin DR400
Tablet now supports hiding/showing via clicking tablet button/base mount
Aera has been updated to include access to menus for map and flight planning
Note:
I don't yet fly this aircraft and haven't installed any mods for it so I have no idea if this confilicts with any other mods that are out there. If you get any weird behavior just uninstall this mod and then let me know what you encountered.
To Install:
1: Delete any previous install in the Community folder
2: Extract and place in Community folder

found the problem, Duckworks DC-3 Improvement mod
Archer374
Thanks very much for this!
Easily worth 5 stars. However, without head tracking or VR it's a bit awkward to use and control when you have to look up every time.
Would it be possible to place it somewhere else in the DC-3 and Beaver, so it's in constant view like in the C152 or the Robin DR400? Maybe a second version to chose from?
NMatt30 3 month(s) ago
Probably possible...
degeuspiet
Can the object be modified as to have it movable e.g. to a second monitor. Just like the functions on the task-bar like ATC.
In this position one has to move the view upwards or switch back from outsideview.
Hoping this is possible,

To the best of my knowledge it's not possible to move this in the way that you're asking.

Works perfectly.
Both the Classic DC-3 and the Amphibious DC-3 work perfectly.
It also works with the Simflight Enhanced Mod.
It would be great if there was a display for the autopilot and the flight plan management is very Spartan, this can be supplemented with the GTN750 in-game mod for flight plan input.
The menu navigation is great.
All in all it's a great mod.

Just a quick note to those of you who are experiencing difficulties with this working on certain Liveries, with the Stock "GPS" variant. In my testing, I have found that there appears to be a conflict with JD's GTN750 Mod, when I turn it off, everything seems to work fine all of the STOCK Variants, and several of the Liveries obtained from Flightsim.to. It seems to depend on weather or not the Developer of that Livery included the Stock panel.cfg and panel.xml file in the Livery Package. It appears it only applies to the "GPS" Variants within their pack. This mod has no way of overwriting those files, and that is why you may get the iPad, but the screen is blank. Hope this helps... If you are using the ADDON Linker app, its easy to just turn JD's mod off, otherwise you'll need to remove it from your community folder. If you have experience modifying files, it is an easy fix. If not, you could reach out to the Developer of that Livery and request a modified Panel Folder...

Would one need to just remove the mod just for the DC-3 by JD or remover all of the mod from JD's GTN750 altogether?
Thanks for letting us know, been something I've been trying to figure out myself. Thank you.

It was a couple of days ago that I worked on it and I believe I just turned the DC-3 off. I think it is just a matter of duplicate commands happening at the same time as the functions are pretty much the same...

Thanks for giving everyone your insight here AIRPAC1. It's really helpful and seeing as how I don't really fly this plane (this addition was requested of me) it provides insight on interactions with other mods/liveries that I just don't have. Really appreciate it.

Everyone is certainly entitled to their opinion, and has the option to simple not use it if it bothers you. Real pilots use what ever navigational aides are available, and I personally know a few pilots who fly "Antique" or "Vintage aircraft with all kinds of Modern Navigational Aides, and there are a few REAL DC-3/C-47's flying in which the pilots are using fairly sophisticated iPAD apps. With that said, mostly all the good folks who post their work here, for FREE, spend a multitude of hours trying to get this stuff to work properly so that not only they can enjoy it, as well as others who do appreciate this kind of stuff.

How is this add on killing the "realism" for the other add on?
SerenaFrank 3 month(s) ago
"Kills" was intentionnally between " " When I add you mod, the realism one I was talking about, isn't working anymore, that's what I meant.
Now for your info, watch all my comments I am always very respectful and thankful to the modders who post their work here, also, believe it or not I'am a retired CFII and I can navigate with or without a GPS...
Take care now...

Thanks for trying it out, unfortunately it sounds like the other mod you're using and the mod I created use the same file/s to store some of their settings. When this happens only one of the mod's files will be honored by the sim, leaving the other mod broken... happens to this one a lot resulting in a white tablet screen. With so many modifications in existence now, and more to come, it's impossible to prevent and you either have to get creative with editing configuration files yourself, or just pick the one that's most important to you and uninstall the other. I'm happy you tried mine and it seems like you were able to deduce the issue and select the mod that was most useful to you.
SerenaFrank 3 month(s) ago
Yes, and I love and use it in the DHC2 Beaver and the Got Grravel; thank you.

Hopefully you are using the ADDON LINKER APP, as it makes life so much easier.

Maybe work with that mod maker and get a working version that works with their mod?

small visual bug
the tablet suction cup is sticking out of the fuselage, you can see it with drone camera.
NMatt30 3 month(s) ago
I thought I had checked for that.... guess I may have missed it. I'll take a look, thanks.
NMatt30 3 month(s) ago
Thanks for the heads up... should be fixed in the latest update

thanks a lot!
jvazquez53
realized that it works on some DC3 liveries, not on all...
Flyboyfpr
Did not work at first, installed DC-3 Mod, and now it works great.
rogerb
thank you... this should work as a replacement for DME
jvazquez53
Excellent addon, works perfect on the Beaver but on the DC3 only shows a white screen.
NMatt30 4 month(s) ago
There are a few add on liveries that appear to be incompatible with this mod on the DC-3... perhaps you are using one of them.?.
jvazquez53 4 month(s) ago
It worked initially and then it quit. The only addon I have is FS Realistic Pro and so far, no conflicts.

Hi mate
Just top let you know the same for the DHC-2 Beaver, this is not working, white screen only, no extra addons or mods added, default and 3rd party liveries tried to no avail.
please advise on fix
Cheers

cool, thank you!

you're welcome

As suchy it is an interesting add-on. However, it situates itself overhead. I would like very much to have it movable, .e.g to a second monitor in the same way as the map and some other functions of the top=taskbar can be moved around..
