PMDG 737 4K & HD Wear and Tear Textures [UPDATED REGULARLY] 4.86/5

I created a used texture effect for the PMDG 737 cockpit by adding a paint scratch texture on top of it. It reworks the glareshied and yoke. Textures are in 4K and HD. The mod includes .psd files and cockpit textures in .png....

I edited the virtual cockpit textures to add some wear and tear effect. I also upgraded many textures in HD and 4K

INSTALLATION

Unzip the file and drag and drop the content into your community folder. It'll replace the folder "texture.vc".

MSFS2020 Directory>Community>pmdg-aircraft-737>SimObjects>Airplanes>PMDG 737-700>texture.vc

Quick question, does the addon work with the other 2 varients besides the passenger varient. Cargo and BBJ?

The folder texture.vc seems to be common to all the variants so yes. I haven't tried though, but it should work 😊

It is incomprehensible that PMDG releases the cockpit with this horrible purple/blue color. I had reported this before the market release hoping there would be either a fix or an option to choose your preference in the FMC settings.

Because of this I had decided not to buy the 737-700 and to wait for the 737-600, hoping that it would be more realistic.

The bluish color is seemingly realistic. I guess non of us have hoped a cockpit of the real 737 so we can't know if it's unrealistic. I and I tried to make the color more grey but I noticed to looked greenish on the ground and looked like the bredok3D 737 cockpit so I quite understood why they put it in blue x)

Although, I'm struggling to understand the logic that you decided not to buy a product that is 99% got things right, just because of a 1% portion that is very subjective and insignificant as a slight purple tint.

I also ""fixed"" the panel color for a grey one. So it's basically the same mod as that other person with the wear and tear additions. Some people want a "perfect" model to fly...you know it's easy to criticize on internet and yeah it's stupid x)

I lost barely 1 fps on my side so I can say no 😊 The LOD of FS2020 handles HD and 4K textures pretty well

On the images, it's dark because of the weather. I fixed the overhead panel on a early version 😊

Instead of the MCDU face being scratched up, is it possible instead to have the buttons turn translucent/grey? You don't usually see the faces worn but rather the buttons start to lose their black paint first.

Yeah actually I can't find the textures of the buttons, fire extinguishers switches...etc It seems to be encoded or something like that. There are two dds files for each part of the cockpit that you can't open or convert. That's a pity.

Some people like having a "lived-in" cockpit. I, for one, enjoy that the plane looks used and loved. I wish there was a way for devs to slowly degrade the appearance of the textures the longer you fly the plane (optional, of course). It gives the plane more character.

Pointless or not it a valid comment, i have no issue with the quality of your work, just the mentality behind it?. My opinion whether positive/negative are just as valid, wearNtear is a natural occurrence over years, a DC-3, yeah go for it, but a 737?. What you have done is just unrealistic unless the airlines are bear pawed slobs.

Some 737, mostly the classic ones, got some very used cockpits. It may not be very realistic..I don't pretend to be a good texture creator/editor but I take my time to do it so people can download (if they want) and enjoy! You are not forced to download if you don't like it, and I respect that. It's nice to have a clean, shiny, plastic looking cockpit too sometimes. Happy landings

Yeah.... have you ever been in an actual 700 cockpit? I have. These planes are 15+ years old. They get beat to crap. So yes, I like having textures that makes my plane look like its not an XBOX video game.

Is it possible to use this withing a livery folder like not inside texture_vc? Because when I put it inside the livery folder for example those parts of the VC go pink/Black (like the missing texture).

It's actually not a livery. The folder "texture.vc" in which all cockpit textures are, is shared by all variants of the plane. There is a backup folder in it so you can go back to original anytime. If you ever need some help with installation, you can send me a message on discord : Celthyan#6788

I like the smudges and overall weathering so far, but I think the overhead is a bit too dark, doesn't really look like any NG cockpit I've been in and I like the default gray already, but overall keep up the good work.
