New "Period" Airfield scenery for RAF Bardney 1945, Lincolnshire, England, UK. (New)
New scenery, Based on original "Top Secret" plans "which have been released" of the Period 1945 RAF Bardney WWII Airfield. Also Local information & online information used.
"RAFB RAF Bardney 1945" msfs in game map ident
Navigation Location 53.224302, -0.295607
The current site is not used for flying (except model aircraft), so adding this to modern day scenery works ok. It will not spoil the modern day flying experience. The current airfield is still pretty much intact, however main runways half gone & chemical works cover a lot of the office/maintenance site area.
Stil work in progress, but fully functional.
Lots to do to make this more realistic, buildings, air raid shelters etc.
The bomb "dump" stores & roads have been added. All 3 runways, 07/25 Main 2000yds, Subsidiaries 12/30 & 02/20. All 36 Dispersals. Parking has been added to All dispersal points. All taxiways added & Linked to all Dispersal. ATC is operational so taxi help should show if enabled. Runway centre lines added (Period 1944 Film from Hemswell shows centre lines on runways). Runway numbers not shown. Main Beacon added at West end of runway 07/25. Inner marker added to East end of rwy 07/25.
A couple of DC3'S & One Stirling static on Dispersals. A couple of Spitfires visiting & A Stuka has "bought the farm"!
NOTE: For the DC3, Stirling, Spitfire & Stuka Static aircraft to show you will also need to download the Vintage Aircraft Collector library V1.0
New version 2. Now with 27 static Lancasters on some of the 36 Dispersals. Parking for cold starts, now only on empty dispersals. at 01,05,07,13,16,37,28 & 36. Static stirling models removed, with one remaining near South East hangar.
With Many Thanks to mgh65 for modifying the Lancaster model, making suitable for the scenery.
Future updates hopefully will include period squadron markings 9 Squadron WS & KA, 275 Squadron WS & PV, 189 Squadron CA.
History. Construction Began in 1942. Two off T2 Hangars & one off B1 Hangar. 36 Pan shaped Dispersals. Seven Domestic camps, two WAAF, two communal & a sick quarters made up the dispersed camps. Would be nice and a little bit more authentic if you can replace the runway, perimeter and dispersal textures for the period concrete construction type.

I believe they were sprayed black with tar? but maybe wrong?

It's refreshing to see a WW2 bomber that isn't a Lancaster or a B-17.

MUCH better than the pile of garbage currently stacked on the old runways according to Google Maps, that's for sure!

Its not for everyone, as it's historic, but I dont think it affects "current day" too much. Hope to improve the buildings accuracy & get some Lancasters placed onto the Dispersals. At the moment all dispersals are available but may limit cold start areas in future updates. Lots of room for improvement.... One slight problem is the "chemical pools" south east main camp I cant remove them? So the contractor huts are a bit damp!
