    Asobo T-6D Improvement Mod

    WORKS with NATIVE T-6 (2024)

    This mod seeks to add and/or improve fidelity and functionality of the Asobo/MS Reno T-6 Texan. 
     Updates will continue as I continue to identify  and address weak spots and bring further improvements. This is just the beginning. Plenty of additions/improvements planned over time!

    Completed fixes:
    • Dome spinner modeled - selectable by cockpit switch
    • Gear doors - selectable by cockpit switch* Smoke system (bound to Logo Lights)
    • Opening canopy
    • Engine sounds tweaked 
    • Realistic primer logic prevents starting when engine is not primed properly, and changes based on air temperature (further improvements planned) 
    • Engine/airframe vibration resonates through instruments, canopy, and rudder pedals
    • Completely functional rear cockpit with new camera definition
    • Custom ground handling physics based on input of real world T-6 pilot/owner
    • Revamped flight model with CFD and Soft-Body physics
    • Revamped engine model to match real world performance within 3% margin of error
    • Revamped starter switch logic; Allows real world startup procedure
    • Pilot avatar visibility toggle (2020 users)
    • Rudder trim orientation corrected
    • Tail nav light emissive corrected
    • Revamped flaps logic - more closely matches real system (more improvements to come - see bug #3)

    Major To-Dos Planned
    • Engine damage modeling and permanence. Rough starts, failures, etc
    • Implement new prop physics system 
    • Fuel system rewrite for accurate reserve tank standpipe behavior
    • Flaps system rewrite for true-to-life function
    Now for the bugs...
    • Known bolt attached to the canopy animation visible near pilot left hip. Nothing we can do with it.
    • 2024 Only - cockpit model clipping through fuselage (to be fixed)
    • Flaps lever does not move when triggered via hardware inputs. This will be addressed later.
    • 2024 Only - Prop hub textures broken due to new propeller handling in 2024. Nothing we can do with it currently.

    I cannot express how much I along with others in my community, love this mod. I only have one request. The radio does not appear to function in 24, and I along with my community do a lot of VATSIM flying. Could this either be looked at or added in the future? Radio works but we have to select frequencies and squawk codes via our connection client (vpilot). Thanks again for your work on this and the P-51

    I am aware of the radio being broken in 2024, and am actively looking at fixing this. There is a rather sizeable overhaul in the works with some new goodies coming. Also looking at including GNS430/GTN650 panel variants for 2024.

    i too cannot get it started in msfs2024 no matter what, ive tried everything but even Ctrl C wont start it. i have to start at the runway.(also shows underprimed)

    Nice mod, but cannot get engine to start in ms2024, always indicates underprimed despite pulling lever x3-5 as per checklist

    Make sure you've wobbled up fuel pressure (>3 PSI) with the hand pump before using the primer. In a future update the fuel pressure will bleed off slower in order to better accommodate priming.

    Greetings from the Canadian prairies. Congratulations on a superb piece of work. I have a request and a suggestion if you are open to it. I see you added the gear doors and the prop spinner. Would you be able to build and add the elongated exhaust which is so characteristic of the Canadian Harvards? Many of us have been waiting for a Harvard for years, and such a mod (activated by a toggle as you did with the other additions) would be very greatly appreciated by a lot of people. Please give it your consideration. Thanks in advance.

    Great mod indeed! However... I'm on MSFS2024 Sim Update 4 (SU4) Beta now and most things are working, but I see no digits in the NAV/COM set. So not able to select any radio and nav aids. Bummer.
    When 'switching off' SU4 beta in Steam and restart, NAV/COM is on when battery is ON.
    Could this be indeed a SU4 issue and will this mod be updated to correct this?

    Definitely will be investigating, and if it persists I will fix it in the next update. I'm having similar issues with other NAV/COM/GPS displays in SU4B so maybe it will fix itself on release branch.

    I'm currently full steam ahead on the P-51 update. T-6 will come after that is done, but I don't yet know the scope of the work I'll be doing with this batch. Bare minimum a new engines.cfg to correct performance to wartime manuals, potentially looking at a persistent oil system too.

    Hi,
    Love the mod its really enjoyable.

    It feels like it is missing the iconic T6 doppler propeller sound.
    It is present in the asobo version when the camera is 90deg facing the fuselage. I might be able to help you with sound files I have recorded myself if you wanted to try to add the sounds (no cost of course).

    I have two separate installs, one is 2020 and one is 2024. The 2024 version of this mod works wonderfully, but I cannot get the T-6 Improvement version of the plane to show up in 2020. I've tried everything. Yes I have the correct versions installed and yes I have Reno Expansion. Would love to get this working. Any ideas would be apprecitated-

    Hey! I have to admit I am a little perplexed at this moment. I just tried a fresh install on my own machine with AddonLinker and it did load correctly. Are you dropping it directly into your CF or using a linker program? I'd also double check your .zip extractor of choice didn't decide to create a nested folder.
