Description

Maturín's first airfield was inaugurated on April 19, 1929.[2] On November 8 of the same year, the airfield entered service with the landing of a Latécoère 26 aircraft from the Aeropostal airline, serving the Maracaibo-Maracay-Ciudad Bolívar-Tumeremo-Trinidad route.
Originally, it had two runways, but one had to be closed due to the expansion of the main runway, which measured 2,100 m x 45 m. It was commissioned by the Venezuelan government to Pan Am in 1942, and the airline used Boeing 707s to transport oil personnel to the Quiriquire fields.

Suerte
