This Air Base is my second project in the world of Microsoft Flight Simulator, designed to bring a piece of Hungary’s military aviation history into the virtual skies. Located in Pápa, Hungary, LHPA is one of the Hungarian Air Force’s most significant airbases, known for its strategic importance in both national defense and international military cooperation.

Key Features:

Strategic Location: Pápa Air Base is home to the Strategic Airlift Capability (SAC) Heavy Airlifting Squadron, operating several C-17 Globemaster III aircraft. This base plays a crucial role in NATO's and the European Union's rapid deployment capabilities, often hosting joint military exercises and providing logistical support across Europe and beyond.

Military Operations: While the SAC Heavy Airlifting Squadron is the primary tenant, Pápa Air Base regularly sees a variety of military aircraft from different nations. This includes transport planes, fighter jets, and refueling tankers, making it a dynamic and active base with diverse aircraft movements.

Detailed Scenery Placement: While not intended as a 1:1 replica, this project carefully places various library assets, including hangars, control towers, accurate taxiways and other key structures, to capture the essence of Pápa Air Base. This approach provides virtual pilots with an authentic experience of operating from this strategic location.

Realistic Atmosphere: The airbase comes to life with realistic ground operations, static aircraft, and military vehicles scattered throughout the base. The attention to detail in the environment enhances the immersion, making it a great addition for those interested in military aviation.
