    FSX/P3D Converted | UKMIL Blackburn Buccaneer S2 Package - Image 1

    Description

    UKMIL Blackburn Buccaneer S2 Package for FSX and P3D (Conversion)

    The Blackburn Buccaneer was a fighter aircraft designed by the UK in the late 1950s. Initially on board aircraft carriers, it remained in service for thirty years and about 200 were built. It proved to be robust, reliable, and perfectly suited to its mission of attack at low altitude.

    This add-on was free, but it was established to support HELP FOR HEROES (H4H) a British charity launched on 1 October 2007 to help British servicemen and women injured since September 11, 2001

    They originally released this as freeware with a donation link to Help for Heroes.  To continue their good works, I am including a link to donating for Help for Heroes:

    https://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/give-support/ways-to-donate/

    They raised around £1,772 before, please consider donating for this one too.
    “REMEMBER, payware companies will ask you for £20 plus for this product, we ask you to give just £1, or more if you wish to HELP FOR HEROES”

    ______________________________________________________________

    This is a FSX/P3D Conversion to MSFS2020, this means:
    - No VR
    - Tail Hook is triggered through Touching Clouds Kinetic Assistant, Highly recommended for use in Carrier Operations.
    - 99% of all Cockpit Gauges are working
    - No Click Spots
    - The engines spool up individually on spawn, first engine 1 and then engine 2.  Even if you spawn on the runway, you will need to watch your PSI and RPM gauges to ensure they are both fully spooled up.  Attempting to just push the throttle up and go will result in sub-optimum and asymmetrical thrust.  Parking Brakes are advisable.
    - Animations are good
    - Autopilot works
    - Recommended Weight settings in screenshots
    - Permission from the Original Developer has been sought and granted (Included in Screenshots)

    If every person who downloads this donates just £1 if this performs as well as the Storch conversion, we can match their original donations.  So please, give what you can.

    Update: V1.1:
    - Complete Engine Parameter overhaul to create more realistic thrust values.
    - The Engines still spool up one after the other, I have included a screenshot to show you the gauges you need to be watching, and at what values they are ready for takeoff.
    - Made ground handling more stable.
    ___________________________________________
    Update: V1.2:

    Despite the complete engine overhaul, some people are still complaining about a throttle issue that I just cannot seem to replicate.

    However, Tiger1962 (Flea on here)  over at the SOH Forums has done some exemplary work that seems to have shown results for those people.  I reached out to them, and asked permission to blend it into the Buccaneer.  They very kindly agreed.

    It might take me a while to blend it completely, so as a stop gap, whilst I continue working on it, I have included tiger's mod as a separate folder.

    Installation is the same as always, drop both folders as is, into your community folder. Load up, and go.

    There seems to be a lot of unrealistic expectations as to what conversions can do.  People need to understand it is not laziness, or a will to provide.  But these free aircraft take time and effort.  There are no click spots, because that's just how it is.  That's the trade-off of conversions.  These are old files being made to work on new software.  Unfortunately, making everything "Native" is not easy, or quick.  Therefore, VR is not a given.  No one is forced to download these aircraft.  They are not payware quality and never will be.  But respect the people that spend their time and effort, quite considerable amounts of it, to collaborate on these projects for the benefit of others.

    A lot of Devs don't allow their converted aircraft to be publicly released, regardless of how good they are, for reasons that are unknown to most of us, so cherish those devs that do!

    A good port over of a great iconic aircraft. It flies well on '20 and even on '24. I have used it for deck landings and cat shots from the free carriers that came with the marketplace kamov Ka-10 (surely one of the best unexpected bargains out there)

    I haven't tested it on 2024, I just assumed because it's a non-native FSX port that it wouldn't work. I shall test it thoroughly, and if I get the same promising results it sounds like you have had, then I shall update the description and compatibility to reflect that! Thank you!

    Edit:/ Ok so I just tested it, and as expected I get an invisible model. Did you do anything to it before you put it in 2024 or did you just drop it in the Community folder? Because for me it is totally invisible inside and out.

    If I can fix it, I gladly will do.

    Sorry only just notced this - on my rig it just works on 2 without alteration and shows up okay. (Intel i9, GeForce 2080Ti and Gb Corsair Vengeance 3000mhz RAM win 10). I get ~45 FPS in 24 throttled to 30 as 1/2 monitor refresh

    I got it working OK as the base version but if I copy Tiger's mods in it doesn't get recognised in the sim. So do I have to put both seperately in'community'?
    Without the mods it flies sort of Ok but with very severe airbrake and no nosewheel steering to speak of.
    it is an amazing aircraft - cunning blown wings and tail giving it - if I remember correctly - 110 knots appoach & ideal for our smaller carriers.
    (If you buy the kamov Ka10 one person heli from the marketplace (less than £5) it doesn't announce it but you will also get the Top Gun carrier & escorts in several places and steaming along with a screen-top menu which now incldes carrier controls so deck andings/catapult ops are possible including fake deck hook for anything without a working one). I have landed theBucc and catapulted off it near Plymouth. (Also includes Kuznetsov in many places too)

    Hey! Firstly, thank you for donating, that's really appreciated. Secondly, yes, you need both, they are two separate mods just in one pack, just pop them both in your community folder, Tiger's mod is JUST the new flight model for it, nothing else, so it still needs the Buccaneer mod with it. I am looking into the nose wheel steering, as I've been led to believe it didn't have any. However, it seems to be bothering people, so I may just give it some anyway.

    yes well it did indeed have a steerable nose wheel (and imagine manouvreing around on a carrier without one) and there is at least one photo of it not pointing straight ahead and cutaway drawings speak of it being steerable (as opposed to differential brake and castor like with Fouga magisters). one value in aircraft.cfg It still follows the age old format: //0 Class
    //1 Longitudinal Position (feet)
    //2 Lateral Position (feet)
    //3 Vertical Position (feet)
    //4 Impact Damage Threshold (Feet Per Minute)
    //5 Brake Map (0=None, 1=Left, 2=Right)
    //6 Wheel Radius (feet)
    //7 Steer Angle (degrees)
    //8 Static Compression (feet) (0 if rigid)
    //9 Max/Static Compression Ratio
    //10 Damping Ratio (0=Undamped, 1=Critically Damped)
    //11 Extension Time (seconds)
    //12 Retraction Time (seconds)
    //13 Sound Type
    Here are interesting facts about the bucc http://www.faqs.org/docs/air/avbucc.html

    I still have the purchased versions for FSX on another drive and have no time and definitely not the skill to try and convert these aircraft for MSFS so I thank you for your efforts and am more than willing to put up with the conversion limitations just to take this beauty into the virtual skies again.
    Looking forward to seeing another simmer in the skies at some point!

    I'm fully aware of the limitations of these conversions, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying this superb/highly under-rated (in sim and RL) aircraft. Many thanks!!!

    I took this for a spin from Lossie to Leuchars, 12 sqn livery of course,. I had heard that they were very stable and this model is one of the best I have encountered. Once I figured out that the altimeter on the top by the screen was the rad-alt, I kept her at around 200 feet almost all the way. Great work, thank you.. Now if someone could please tell the ATC how to pronounce Leuchars..

    yes -"Luckers" it certainly isnt' - not now they gave it to the army. I have the excellent addon scenery for it though & often fly there. It used tobe a grea day out when they had the BoB air displays - train from Inverkeithing or drive & half hour round the perimiter to park.

    Thank you very much for the contribution, the Buccaneer is an iconic aircraft, so ugly it is beautiful. I miss the following:
    - Higher quality thumbnails.
    - External loads such as weapons or fuel tanks.
    T

    almost 2 years ago

    The thumbnails are the originals that came with it.
    Sadly, external loads didn't seem to import across nicely.

    Exited to try this out. I could possibly replace the thumbnails with updated one's.

    Thank you for bringing it to my attention! I couldn't replicate the issue you described, but it lead to a much better improvement of the engine systems, so thank YOU 🙂
