    Description

    Buy me a beer!

    21W Ranger Creek (v2.0)

    Greenwater, Washington, USA

    ======================
    This is my second version for MSFS.

    Hope you enjoy it as I did making this fantastic airstrip.
    ======================

    Small airstrip near to Seattle and Mount Rainier. Tricky to land and to takeoff due to surronding forests.

    Elevation:            2650 ft. / 808 m
    RW Dimensions: 2875 x 30 ft. / 876 x 9 m
    RW Lights:          None
    Departures:         RW 33 and climb down to the valley
                                RW 15 to a narrow valley

    Tip: Flyby the airport before landing to check wind socks and surface conditions. East wind sock is hard to spot when landing RW 33 because trees.

    ======================

    Features:

    -Custom objects: Vault toilets, road signs, fences & tar runway textures
    -Reviewed lots of real videos and photos to get the right atmosphere

    ======================

    Know bugs:

    -GA vehicles sometimes on runway or vehicles in parking spots, if you know how to avoid them, let me know.

    ======================

    Installation:

    Copy the "zalox-airport-21w-ranger-creek-washington" folder to your "Community" mods folder.

    I can't believe it works in v2024.

    2 months ago

    Are you planning to bring this to MSFS 2024 too?

    2 months ago

    Oh, I've been dreaming of this for nostalgia reasons.

    If he ain't, you ought to.

    2 months ago

    I was thinking of maybe adding it to the list

    Thanks! One of my favorite airports. Would you consider doing 6S9 Stehekin State? It could use a little personal touch.

    2 months ago

    If you've got 2024, I've done Stehekin - available on here.

    I remember this airfield. A very long time ago, in an other flight simulation ( flight unlimited 3 released in 1999) we could play a flight mission to find a bigfoot reported near the Rainier Mountain and he was in fact near the runway of Ranger Creek, screaming loud.

    Thanks for the scenery

    Whaaat? That was a mission in Flight Unlimited 3? That was my first sim and I had no idea! I missed out :(

    I think there are some trees on the runway after SU10. Anyone else?

    Great spot. Looks like it just needs a tweak.

    +1 for the trees on the runway.

    always a pleasurer to come back here and visit Ranger Creek, my goodness the Georender scenery 's was great and we all meet in Emma Field. Thx for the nice scenery

    almost 5 years ago

    So glad to see this field. I used to fly in and out of @georender 's version all time time back in the day. Thank you

    Great work. Thanks a lot. Waiting for the next ;-)

    very very nice, I really like the signs, I'm not skilled to model those :)
    as a minor suggestion, if you use a bit more of falloff on the aprons and cover the ugly automatically placed road along the runway this one will be better than the one I just posted.
    good work.

    I just saw you work, those campers are hand made? I need to replace my "trucks" with some custom-made in order to achieve a bit more realism out there.
    Thank you for your suggestions, I wil try to upload a new version with the changes you propose. Do you know what is the best way to hide the side road?

    over 5 years ago

    the campers are actually scaled down algecos sitting on an airport trailer with wheels :D I then added a small rotated tarp fence to simulate the extensible roof.
    to hide the side road you can use aprons, I solved it like that.
    now we have three different Ranger Creek implementations, lol.

    by the way, if you want the sources of my scenery I can forward them to you so you create a blend of them and it would be the best ranger creek scenery possible.
    I'm thinking about publishing them all on github.

    I will add some changes to the scenery and some fixes (like the apron to cover the road). And I will try to model a pair of campers to test how they fit in the scenery. If I need some advice I will DM to you. Thank you sir!
