The Château de La Treyne is a castle located in Lacave, France.
The existence of the castle of Treyne is confirmed in 1342. Its construction is probably due to Guillaume and Hughes de Rouffilhac whose family is native of Gourdon.Considered as a den of Huguenots (French protestants), the castle is burned in 1586 by order of the Duke of Mayenne, lieutenant of king Henri III.
Gédéon Ier de La Ramière started around 1625 the restoration of the castle which is finished before 1643.
Jean-Jacques-Joseph-Frédéric, marquis of Cardaillac, sells the castle and the domain of la Treyne on 20 septembre 1910 to a rich parisian entrepreneur, Auguste-Gabriel Savard, creator of jewels Fix.
The castle will know several owners and is purchased in 1982 by the Gombert family.After 10 years of restoration and adaptations, the castle becomes a member of the "Relais et Châteaux" network.
The housefront, roofing, straight stairs, the interior decoration of the grand salon and the billiard room are listed as monuments historiques in 1990.
The Pont de la Treyne (or Pont de Pinsac), just next to the castle, is a bridge built at the beginning of 20th century across the Dordogne with a steel structure.
The castle and the bridge have been recreatead manually from various photos and videos found on the internet. The castle comes with its own lights and POI.
