Description
UT25 is exceptionnal and unique for your pilot's eyes and your pilot's skill. The approach cockpit views are stunning. It's the only airstrip in the iconic Monument Valley, Utah. It's runway is one-way-in and one way-out facing a 700 ft mesa. You’ll land uphill on runway 16 and takeoff on 34 which is also a very narrow sloping runway. All this in a desert altitude-density environnement. A real challenge for pilot, perfect improvement for MSFS compared to the default autogen airport.
Update Jan. 1st 2026: this mod is not compatible with MSFS2024 Red Bull Air Races free DLS (available in the Market Place)
Features
- Add custom made airport building (restroom and hangar).
- Add the Hogan Navajo (traditional dwelling of the Navajo people) visible from the apron.
- Add wire ropes/cables on transcient apron to secure aircraft.
- Add bushes alongside the runway and in the vicinity.
- Remove the default windsock and add the two real windsocks (apron and mid runway).
- Re-texture all aprons, parking and runway (correct marking and re-asphalt visible history).
- Enhanced the mesas facing runway 16 (not a perfect solution but better than the default) as these flat-topped hills weren't upgraded by the Microsoft World Upgrade and required attention.
- No extra library or depedencies required.
From the flight deck
The airstrip sits at the base of a 700-foot mesa at an elevation of 5,192 feet MSL, and the runway is 4,000 feet long. it's a one-way-in, one-way-out with no reasonable go-around when you're on short final: you land 16 (upslope) and take-off 36. As it lies on the desert area, be sure to manage density altitude flying (lean/mixture). Finally, the runway 16/34 is really narrow and has no VASI/PAPI, so it's very common to come in too high. Once landed, the whole apron is sloped, so be sure to bring your own tie-down to secure your plane on the gravel apron. The asphalt parking area at the south end of the airstrip is reserved for commercial aircraft and required chocks. Other aircraft should use the dirt parking area west of the runway.
Pick your favorite general aviation aircraft from Cirrus, Piper or Cessna to Twin Otter and Grand Caravan (what about a aerobatic?) and meet your friend in a fly'in as in the real life.

How to install in MSFS?
Unzip the file into your Community folder. Keep the folder structure from the zip (\AirportServices \ContentInfo, \MaterialLibs, \scenery, layout.json and manifest.json at the root directory). Once installed go to UT25 (icao code for Monument Valley Airport) as usual, this scenery replace the stocked MSFS one.
Requirements
- World Update II (USA) to have the Monument Valley upgrade.
Known bugs
- The ground Bing satellite texture is not colored blended between two tiles just in the middle of the airstrip. I tried to soften the transition. It's a first attempt.
- The overall satellite is more greenish than red'ish
- The cliff enhancement around the Goulding's lodge and immediate proximity of the airstrip are far from being perfect but from a pilot's perpective "it does the job"
Remarks
- If you have issue with bushes/shrubs, have a look at the FAQ
- In the real world, Monument Valley airport is private and required a prior-permission to land by calling or submitting your aircraft information and arrival time at the nearby Hotel and Resort "Goulding's Lodge": https://gouldings.com/amenities/airstrip/
Author's final note
As for all of my MSFS mod, this small scenery is made from a pilot-eyes perspective. The scenery is inspired by aerial views from Bing and Google maps. It's a mix between the satellite imagery displayed from MSFS and more accurate data found on Internet. I did my best, based on online videos and pictures freely available. I also used some of my personal video taken during several real flight I did here https://youtu.be/nbNUxro5jk8. If you have local pictures to help being more accurate, please let me know!
