KUES - Waukesha County Airport (Waukesha, Wisconsin) - Image 1

    Description

    KUES - Waukesha County Airport

Located in south-east Wisconsin, this busy regional airport services Waukesha and Milwaukee counties and is home to one of the few flight schools in the area. The airport offers access to a wide range of GA aircraft up to and including turboprops and private jets. It is subject to the usual harsh weather of Wisconsin which makes instrument arrivals all the more interesting.

    Features (0.1.1):

    - Changed some file pathing that could potentially cause issues
    - Fixed VASI/PAPI lights which now display correct glideslope values

    Features (0.1.0):

    - Completey rebuilt all runways, taxiways, and aprons to match real-world surfaces
    - Added/modified parts of the airfield and main ramp that were constructed after the Bing maps satellite photo was taken
    - Replaced ~90% of the buildings/hangars to better match the real airport
    - Handplaced all taxiway signs to match the airport diagram
    - Repainted all taxiway lines and added black backing where appropriate
    - Added appropriate approach, taxiway, runway, and ramp lighting
    - Removed random windsocks and added new windsock to the appropriate location
    - Resurfaced all service roads located within the airport grounds
    - Added parking lots for various locations
    - Added parking locations for the FBO, south tiedowns, southwest hangars, southeast hangars, east corporate hangars, and north ramp
    - Added the fuel farm near the south-west enterance
    - Many, many other things....

    Known Issues:

    - Highly unlikely to work with AI traffic or ATC.
    - No custom models, all assets are from the base game. Would like to have added the terminal, control tower and some hangars but my Blender skills are beginner level at best.

This airport is not working with World X, USA. Everytime I fly to KOSH, the Sim Crashes as I fly over and approach KUES. Sorry :(

    Please fix the windsock.

Thanks for taking the time to improve some of our great states airports. I have flown to many of them in real life.

I did notice that on UES the RNAV for RWY 28 is way off it takes you to the north of the runway. I also notice RWY 10 ILS is not operable.

My question is, did you modify or possible accidentally change the navigational information for the 2 approaches I mentioned?

I will check out your other airports and see if the same issues is present with them.

I don't believe I changed any of the nav data for the airport. You'd have to explicitly edit an xml file for that and I made this way before I knew that haha. For the RNAV on 28 it is offset by like 10° according to the plate so it will look pretty weird on final. I'm not sure what would be causing the ILS to not work. It may be possible that a sim update changed a setting somewhere otherwise the game's database is just being weird.

This scenery contains modellib.bgl which conflicts as per Asobo's recommendations. See the section here on CTD's being caused by scenery and how to fix it. Could you fix it please? https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/scenery-creators-please-move-or-rename-your-modellib-bgl/307563

Thanks for the heads up, never heard of this issue before. However, if I understood the post correctly, the issue was from creating the scenery in the game first and the game automatically assigning the output directory to scenery/global/scenery/modelLib.bgl. I build the folder structure outside of the game before I start work on them so I don't run into the game automatically assigning directories in bad places. My modelLib.bgl is not located in the global folder so it shouldn't cause any CTD issues, at least none that I have ever noticed or had brought to my attention. If I understood this incorrectly I'd be more than willing to look into it deeper.

When the same naming is utilized across multiple sceneries, CTD's result at worst and at best dramatically slower loading times as the sim seems to parse the file structures.

Often just changing the filename/pathing fixes these issues for people.

    Thanks.

It wasn't causing CTDs; it's old news that people still like to mention.

No the issues with the naming still persist.
It is especially apparent when more than one scenery is loaded with this problem.

    Very nice!!

As a Wisconsin resident I would love to see improvements to other Wisconsin airports - KMKE, KSBM, KMSN, etc.

Thanks! I definitely plan on polishing up as many airports in the state as I can. I'll probably start with a bunch of the county airports like SBM, MTW, RHI etc since I mostly fly the CJ4. I do want to eventually work up to MKE since it's my home field but that's undoubtedly going to be a very big project.

Looking forward to it! It's so exciting to have the Badger state in proper ortho coloring and there's plenty of photogrammetry too (approach to your KUES over the quarry is stunning) - even Sheboygan and Fond du Lac!

If you do KSBM I'm up in Plymouth and it's en route to work at Kohler so I'm happy to grab photos etc. if needed. It's not a bad re-creation as-is, but seems shifted off it's orthoimagery a bit.

As another Wisconsin resident, I also appreciate your dedication to this great state! Is it possible to also do KRYV (Watertown)?
    WindhoverAuthor

Absolutely! Flown there many times when I was getting my PPL a few years ago. I'm currently working on LSE and planning on SBM next so I'll get to RYV right after those two. I don't really have a timeline on any of these but just to give a general idea I spent about 2-3 weeks on KUES.

Another big +1 for WI content! Thank you for working on this!

Based out of KMSN and would love to see that polished up. Also small plugs for
KLNR (there is a great little diner there) and C35 (Reedsburg)
