Located on the NE coast of Moresby Island in the Haida Gwaii, (Queen Charlotte Islands up until 2010) archipelgo. Along with Graham Island, they form the heartland of the Haida Nation, upon which people have lived for 13,000 years, and who currently make up approximately half of the population.
Sandspit Airport is a super cool place to fuel up on your flight up  the very scenic Western coast of British Collumbia on the way to Alaska.  Flyng this route can be risky in a single engine aircraft because the rocky coast and very cold ocean don't make survival very likely.  However; many do, including Beavers and Cessnas and other sorts off bush planes.  Some next stops could be Ketchican Alaska or Prince Rupert if you want to hug the coast.  This airport is a nice addition to Porty Hardy.
