Cerro Tololo and Gemini South Observatory - Image 1

    Description

The Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory (CTIO) is an astronomical observatory located on Cerro Tololo in the Coquimbo Region of northern Chile, with additional facilities located on Cerro Pachón about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) to the southeast. It is within the Coquimbo Region and approximately 80 kilometres (50 mi) east of La Serena, where support facilities are located. The site was identified by a team of scientists from Chile and the United States in 1959, and it was selected in 1962.[1][2] Construction began in 1963 and regular astronomical observations commenced in 1965.[3] Construction of large buildings on Cerro Tololo ended with the completion of the Víctor Blanco Telescope in 1974, but smaller facilities have been built since then. Cerro Pachón is still under development, with two large telescopes inaugurated since 2000, and one in the early stages of construction.

The principal telescopes at CTIO are the 4 m Víctor M. Blanco Telescope, named after Puerto Rican astronomer Victor Manuel Blanco, and the 4.1 m Southern Astrophysical Research (SOAR) telescope, which is situated on Cerro Pachón.[4] Other telescopes on Cerro Tololo include the 1.5 m, 1.3 m, 1.0 m, and 0.9 m telescopes operated by the SMARTS consortium. CTIO also hosts other research projects, such as PROMPT, WHAM, and LCOGTN, providing a platform for access to the southern hemisphere for U.S. and worldwide scientific research
The Gemini South Telescope with a primary mirror of 8m is located at over 2700m (9000ft) of altitude in the Andes of Chile, at the Cerro Pachón mountain (30 ° 13′S 70 ° 43′W). The very dry air and the scarce presence of clouds make this site a very good choice for large telescopes, including the Southern Astrophysical Research (SOAR) and the Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory, CTIO. Gemini South saw the first light in 2000.

Together with the scenario file (to be put in the Community) I added a flight plan to load in Flight simulator otherwise finding this peak is difficult. Just copy it to a separate folder any "flight plans" for example and load it from the home screen. I recommend a turboprop.
It is not perfect but better than the original which you can see in the screenshots
    hope you like it!

I downloaded your latest version but I still have very important terrain elevation problem on top of the mountain. It doesn't look like your pictures. Is it a bug with the latest Asobo update ?

Thank's for your feedback. I take a look soon!
I don't know why maybe with the new update like your opinion?
in the first version i had problem with terraforming in that area. it seems there is a junction of satellite maps.
The latest version online is without terraforming on the top because generate huge elevation error so there is only a little part in the Building at the bottom of observatory.
Have a nice Holiday and a happy New Year!

I visited VLT installations and they are absolutely beautfiul. I shared a video I made with my astronomer's friends and they are all charmed. Cerro Tololo seems very very nice too, beautiful buildings but with this elevation problem, I can't do nothing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wg1yhmLyBqs

    Thanks.
Don't worry about the snow, I added the snow manually, maybe it's not the plalce to add snow ahahaha.
If you want experience the BEST looking mountains everywhere in the world, add yourself 3cm of snow by choosing any weather preset than LIVE, go in the settings and add snow. Just look at the 4th minute of this video to enjoy an extraordinary landscape, so real. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-AG54F6kWw That's the WOW effect I was looking for.

Hello Longastrino! ... download and install version 0.3 .... one part was corrected, that of the telescopes. Where are the two buildings with flat roofs and the round building are still on a strange hill. We hope little by little we can have a correct Cerro Tololo. Thank you.

i know the problem, this version is without terraforming that generated huge artefacts. i think could be sdk. without terraforming the top of the mountains where is located the telescope is not flat like real. thank's for your patience and feedback. i'm triying to do my best and solve problem in spare time. Bye!

Every time I download the new version, it's the same old 0.1 version with folders from 6th Dec and the manifest.json from the 7th. Manifest.json even says "package_version": "0.1.0".'

The download is even the exact same filename (and size), unlike every other updated mod on this site, which changes the filename slightly when a new version is available.

Sorry, i'm trying to do like your's suggests but something is whrong in my structure and don"t work yet. I need to understand where is my strutture problem with modellib. Be patience please.
I chek the Json file uploaded and the version is 0.3. the file size is the same i think because the only changes is in the terraforming or some model position. i have not used external model, only SDK model.

i don't know why. In my sim it works correctly. the only thing i have changed is the SDK to latest version.... i can delete the terraforming for now, the buildings can be partially in the air but without the terrain malformation you tell me
