Installation Instructions:
Firstly if you are uupdating from the original version the firstly REMOVE cyhc-vancouver-harbour-water-aerodrome from your community folder.
Unzip this folder to a temporary folder and copy the “vancouver-harbour-water-aerodrome-cyhc” folder into your FS2020 COMMUNITY FOLDER
For a more realistic view of the area copy the “vancouverscenery-3d” folder into your FS2020 COMMUNITY FOLDER. This adds 3D satellite imagery displaying an improved waterfront and buildings adjacent to the airport docks. It might affect fps (frames per second) when used on a low spec PC. If you notice a drop in performance then delete/remove it from the Community folder.
Optional
There are scenery objects which will only appear if you download and install the following libraries –
WINDY THINGS library by trfsto (animated Canadian flag on roof of Harbour Air building
and windsock) obtainable for download from flightsim.to
DAVE’S 3D PEOPLE library by BadMed (people on the dock)
obtainable for download from flightsim.to
Version 1.0:
- Docks with buildings etc and static aircraft
- Radio mast
- Pedestrian ramp from buildings to the docks.
- 5 parking spots
- 2 take off points
This scenery is freeware and must not be distributed for gain.
Version 1.1:
On request from JUE2265 I have modelled and added the iconic Chevron fuel barge using images located on the internet. It is not highly detailed as I don’t think anyone will bother going close enough to notice.
Please Note change to installation instructions if you are upgrading from the first version.
‘Easter Egg’. Can anyone determine what the employees like to do on the computer in the sales area (in the main building on the left). You will need to look inside the windows.
Would anyone with MSFS2024 advise if this scenery works in MSFS2024. Thanks.
Let me know if you see need of improvement or have any issues with the package.
It has been tested with MSFS2020 1.39.12.0 (as at April 20, 2026)

Nanaimo Harbour Water Aerodrome (ICAO CAC8) is a seaplane base (SPB) serving the city of Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada. It is located in the Nanaimo Harbour. It is registered as an aerodrome, formerly classified as an airport, and an airport of entry by Nav Canada. This package is a supplement to the default MSFS airport CAC8 and adds docks, pontoons, boats and a dock parking place for selection for those ‘cold and dark’ startups. The original Asobo CAC8 ‘airport’ consists of only water ‘runway’ start/takeoff positions. Please read the documentation for warnings.

Suggestions: Add some parking in the water away from docks for bigger seaplanes and consider modelling the runway (little nav map) unless you did and i missed it. I noticed there is also a ferry terminal some ship models could be found in gaist or superspuds libraries that you may wish to add.

Is it usual for tug boats to pull up at the barge as I see in some images?
The fuel bowsers on the small pontoon are only for petrol/gas and diesel and so I assume that floatplanes don't refuel there?
Anyone please advise.
