    Description

    Note: Updated version 6.  Took out some terraforming and checked for 2024 compliance.
    This is a fairly large file so it could cause some fms slowdown.  

    Due to cloud cover, Bing Maps left this amazing airport off the game. When it wasn't included in World Update 11, I decided to redo it for my friends in that beautiful part of Canada.  
    The airport is situated several kilometers west of the main town of Bathurst. It is an important hub in Atlantic Canada bringing thousands of tourists in and even more lobsters out to your favorite restaurant.  Hmm love Lobster.   From Bathurst I enjoy a quick trip down to Moncton then perhaps east over the Confederation bridge and land at Fox Harbour for a quick game of golf before flying down to Halifax for the evening.  Perhaps you are coming in from Montreal or Quebec City, that's a nice trip too.  In any case if you get a chance to travel there in person, you will have a fantastic time.  The people are warm and great cooks.  

    Notable on this airport.  Use of parallax in some windows.  Animated hangar door. Terriforming to correct the land spikes.  Custom modeling of the airport terminal and hangars.

    Great Place to call Home. I think because of the poor sat images they were not able to include it in the MSFS package.

    Hi.. I updated it making sure the terminal was at ground level. I took out some terraforms because in the latest versions of msfs they weren't needed. I didn't ake out Daves 3d people I simply took out that mod from my community folder.
    Hope that improves things.

    There are huge hills on the ramp and taxiway, and a windsock on the runway, as well as another small obstacle.

    Thanks .. I will download the version from this site to verify. This airport is not in the sim so perhaps the latest version might have altered the ground levels.

    I redownloaded the latest version. I am assuming you are using the latest version. :) I could not see any problems with the elevation. I even tried it using the latest Bing Maps version.
    It is a large file and sometimes the graphic card may not have enough memory to fully draw the scene. There may also be other add-ons using needed memory. I suggest you try again to 1) download the latest version, reduce the number of other add-ons in your community folder.
    Hopefully this works for you.

    I downloaded and reinstalled it, but the problem remains. Also, objects (windsocks and signs) are on the runway.

    That is odd.. Try map enhancer.. it's free and you can use the latest Bing maps when flying. Obviously, I didn't create it that way. I would also try and reduce the number of custom items in your community folder, just to free some ram on your graphics card.

    I tried to recreate your problem by turning off the photogrametry and Bing Maps. I could not recreate your problem. Make sure your Bing Maps is turned on as well as photogrametry. I would also suggest launching updated Bing Maps - It's free on Map Enhancer - see Youtube videos.

    Everything is set as it should be with maps and photogrammetry. I uploaded a couple of captures of what I get—hills in the ramp and objects on the runway. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    This scenery just doesn't work. Elevations at taxiways are way off!

    Tell me more. I think I flattened this airport so that there would not be a huge difference in the taxiway to runway level.

    Port Hardy is one of the most important airports on Vancouver Island and is home to Wilderness Seaplane which continues to serve the region with a fleet of Gruman Goose'.  It has an ILS with glideslope on Rwy 11 -  dial in 109.5 for the localizer and glideslope.  It has a new terminal building in which the roof resembles the cross section of a wing.   I spent some wonderful days up in that area at Telegraph Cove - 40 miles south, but have been a fan of this wild and beautiful part of Canada for years. See the artwork of Emily Carr for instance. I wanted to incorportate some of the artwork of the coastal indigineous peoples -Kwakiutl First Nations -so I included them as highlighted in the terminal building.  (dugout canoe and exterior facade)
