    We are  happy to present you this free mod bringing an iconic member of the Cessna 172 family having an interesting power gain.

    What are Reims Rocket and Hawk XPII ?

    The FR172 Reims Rocket was produced by Reims Aviation in France from the late 1960s to the mid-1970s. It was powered by a Rolls-Royce built, fuel-injected, Continental IO-360-H(B) 210 hp (160 kW) engine with a constant-speed propeller.
    The Reims Rocket led to Cessna producing the R172K Hawk XP, a model available from 1977 to 1981 from both Wichita and Reims. This configuration featured a fuel-injected, Continental IO-360K derated to 195 hp (145 kW) with a two-bladed, constant-speed propeller. The Hawk XP was capable of a 131-knot (243 km/h) cruise speed.     What's in this mod ?

    This mod is based on the C172SP from asobo, thanks to the to Games content usage rules.

    You will find three variants in the hanger :

    • 210HP Reims Rocket / Hawk XPII with 3 blade prop
    • 195HP Reims Rocket / Hawk XPII with 2 blade prop
    • 210HP Amphibian Hawk XPII with 2 blade prop

    First of all you have an ingame mod manual :

    • click on the Help message on the panel, on the bottom left of the panel.

    All options available in this mod can be set in the book on pilot's left compartment storage.

    How to install it ?

    Like all other mods :

    • Remove previous version if there is one (in case some mod files are removed).
    • Drop it in your community folder.
    • Have a careful look at the compatibility list
    Flight model

    The flight model has been modified to match the Reims Rocket aptitudes : 

    • Engine upgrade : 210HP, up to 2800RPM or 195HP for the 2nd variant
    • Prop change : constant speed
    Visual details

    The external and internal 3D model have been modified

    • A new fuselage nose design and wheel fairings matching older C172 from that era
    • Sky windows (optional)
    • 3 blade prop and appropriate nose cone
    • New exhaust pipe
    • Prop lever
    • Cowl flaps, rudder trim
    • All-gauge cockpit witth different radio stacks :

      • VFR only

      • All radio
      • TDS GNT750 NXI, available on TDSim website
      • PMS50 GTN750 (free. I don't know if pay version is compatible)
    • All the features from 172SP Skyhawk AS1000 improvement

      • State saving

      • Visible pilot, copilot, passengers
      • Moving sun visors
      • Opening doors & windows
      • Removable wheels fairings (you can choose older or newer ones)
      • Wheels chocks, tie downs, covers, gpu,
      • Custom seat configuration
      • Cargo configurations, loaded and unloaded
      • checklists cards and flip box
      • VFR maps on cardboard cliped to the yoke
      • Tablet with external applications : Currently supported
      • etc.
    • Sky diving setup

    • Amphibian variant

    Liveries

    The mod includes liveries from real Reims Rocket or Hawk XP II airplanes.

    Most of the liveries for Asobo C172SP should be easy to convert to this plane. You may expect modifications on the nose plane.

    Compatibility

    Audio sound packs : If you want to enable either Boris Audio Works (BAW) or ECHO19 sound pack, use this extra mod :

    • For BAW mod, you need to install the BAW mod on MSFS2020 and MSFS2024
    • For Echo19 mod, you need to install the MSFS2020 version on MSFS2020 AND MSFS2024 : but be aware they have the same name (rename them : x-echo19-skyhawk-fs20 & x-echo19-skyhawk-fs24 for ex.)

    Recommended packages if you want to use these GPS units :

    • no incompatibility with WBSims classic mod : it is not related to this plane, WBSims works with Asobo's classic variant.

    You may find incompatibility with mods that update default html library in MSFS. Please report them if it's the case.

    • Existing Cessna Skyhawk AS1000 LIVERIES are compatible but need to be converted for this mod
    • B78XH mod is reported to be cause side effects (it's true with other planes too)
    • All other mod modifying base files from fs-base (to change screens, panels, etc)

    A lot of the instruments were taken from Sal1800's devkit on github. Opensource resources are not a common thing on MSFS, hats off to him !

    100% the best add-on I've downloaded on flightsim, even considering it's a simple Cessna, I love the awesome details and additions you can change on the aircraft like roof windows, cargo, and the interior. I cannot believe this add-on is free; highly recommended.

    Can't say enough how great this mod is. This is one of those Must Have's on the list. I even went so far as to modify a few of the skins for "N" numbers and even put them on the Amphibian... I love it!!! Thank you for this fantastic addition. Everything works great! One request... a Float only version as well.

    Thank you for answering! I just finished yet another flight in my orange Amphibian! I love the overhead windows...very nice touch! Are there more planes you are working on? The level of detail you put into this series is outstanding. I have a few Carenado and Just Flight models, but I prefer the ease of use of yours... and of course the tight detailing.

    One plane sorely missed from Flight Sim is the Piper Tomahawk. Would be terrific to have that as a better option than the Just Flight version.

    I now have about 30 hours in the FR-172, and it has become my favorite GA plane in FS2020. The skins and textures are not as slick as what you get from payware planes, from Carenado for example, but this freeware plane beats many of the $39 payware ones hands down. Everything works, exactly as it should! On the float plane version, the wheels and water rudder extend and retract exactly as they should; which is more than you can say for most of the Asobo float planes. The configurable interior is amazing! Cargo, Passengers, Skydiving, all 4 seats or just the pilot's seat, stuff in the glove box, or not, baggage in the cargo area or not. Steam gauges and a Bendix radio stack, or a GTN-750 if you want to go modern. Best of all, there are 2 VOR's and a moveable-card ADF indicator, so you can practice instrument navigation using VOR, ILS, ADF, and RNAV procedures (if you are flying into an airport that has these services). The FR-172 does it all! Many of the Asobo GA planes don't support NDB, or they only have 1 VOR, so you can't tune an ILS on Nav1 and a VOR/DME on Nav2. There's no annoying cockpit mesh, so you can freely move your eyepoint outside anywhere you want, to capture screenshots or just get a better view of the ground. The engine gauges give you all the essentials: MAP, RPM, oil and cyl head temp, Fuel flow rate, fuel tank level. For night flying, the cockpit lights work pretty good: you can see all the gauges but there's not excessive glare. The doors open and close. When you are done and ready to park at the end of a flight, you can deploy chocks and tiedowns! Flight performance is just what you expect from a Cessna 172: not blazingly fast, but predictable, easy on the fuel consumption, and very forgiving of pilot errors - it's difficult to stall or spin this plane, and if you do, it's easy to recover.
    I have just a couple of wish list upgrades for this plane: 1. make the 3-blade Hartzell constant-speed prop available on the amphib version. 2. Make a ski version. 3. Make Tundra tires an option, as on the C-206 Stationairre. Thank you to everyone on the development team who made this addon available. It's truly amazing.

    I unintendetely disabled the original C172, that was the reason for no sound. I also downloaded your update for the 172m, also there, no sound with the default C172 enabled.What about your "old" "bagolu-c172-patch"? Still necessary?
    Edit: I reinstalled the version of the C172m with the missing texture, there is sound. Deleting that and installing the new version, the sound is gone. By changing the sound.xml from the old one into the new one, the sound is back again.

    Question: this download should be version v6.3.3 - but the manifest.json still shows "package_version": "6.3.2" . What is correct? (and where to download v6.3.3?)

    Ho ! that explains why people have uncorrected bugs !

    It probably failed as the upload to fs.to is very very slow and I didn't noticed.

    Thanks for looking into it.! By the way, it*s same problem on your bagolu-homepge: it says "Current version : v6.3.3 (2026-05-08) " but the download contains version 6.3.2 accoring to the manifest.json.
