Boeing 787-10 Performance Modification Project - Image 1

    Description

    IMPORTANT, READ FIRST
    Installation / Mod Package Notes:

May 15, 2024: FYI, I am no longer developing this mod nor do I have time available to keep it updated. Hopefully it continues to work. If someone else wants to maintain or take over this project, please let me know and I'll hand it off.

    • You must have MSFS 2020 with the stock Boeing 787-10 model to use this Mod. This mod is not a stand-alone aircraft. If you install without, you will see game crashes.
    • This mod doesn't address ANY avionics modifications or any changes to the general cockpit functionality. Unless you can clearly demonstrate otherwise, any bugs or issues with the cockpit functionality are not related to this mod. Please DO NOT inquire about avionics or instruments faults or bugs that you find with the game's default avionics or other 3rd party modifications to the 787-10's systems - I can't help you. These are not the subject of this mod.
    • You must have Modern flight model enabled to use this mod. It will not work properly with Legacy flight model settings.
    • To confirm correct installation, when in the livery selection menu for the 787-10 in MSFS2020, the default Asobo Boeing 787-10 livery will display the following in the variant area "DAKFLY FDE MOD 1.X.X". This will help you quickly identify whether installation of the package was successful and identify package version - this version information will only show up under the default Asobo livery listing and not other liveries, however the performance modifications will be applied to all liveries you have installed.
    • The mod does not work with all third party liveries. Some third party liveries are old/out of date and never did or no longer follow proper file structure / installation guidelines and are not compatible. As a result you may see instability or crashes when you do attempt to use these liveries.
    • If your install doesn't work initially, before posting here or on the forum, please close the sim and remove the mod from the community folder. Start the sim and completely reinstall your default 787-10 from the Content Manager under your Profile area to ensure you have the latest version. Verify the stock / default B787-10 is present and works correctly. Close the sim. Re-download the package here and then re-install the mod as directed (downloads from this site can become corrupted, so that can be a cause of problems with the mod). Restart the sim and verify installation. If this doesn't work, PM me.

Asobo Boeing 787-10 Flight Dynamics and Performance Modifications Project Version 1.0.2

Changes in This Version (significant previous changes have been made and documented in the readme file included in the download file package):

-"Softened" up roll controller PID to reduce control "rebound" behavior and produce a bit more roll inertia effect.
-Slightly improved cruise Mach efficiency to provide better range accuracy with contingency reserves.
-Corrected cabin pressurization values (approx. 6000 ft cabin pressure at 43,000 feet)
-Adjusted spoileron behavior (deploy only w/flaps 15 or above); I haven't found a satisfactory real world reference for this, but it seemed inappropriate for spoilerons to actuate at higher aircraft speeds.
-Minor Adjustments to trailing flaps behavior.

Please see version notes in the included install_readme file for a list of all changes made since project inception and a list of open items / known issues.

    Installation:

Download the .zip file and extract to desktop or other location of choice.
Install the "DAKFLY_787Mod" folder into your Community folder
Start the sim and enjoy the modded 787.
Please read and follow the installation instructions in the included Install_ReadmeV1.X.X.txt file carefully.

Asobo Boeing 787-10 Flight Dynamics and Performance Modifications Project:

After reading user comments on the forums regarding the Asobo 787-10 concerning inaccurate weights, fuel consumption, handling, etc... and due to my own poor experience and frustration the stock model, I revised a wide variety of parameters in the configuration files decrypted by Asobo with Sim Update 10, modifying to more closely match the real world specifications and performance data for the 787. I'm not a 787-10 pilot, so my modifications are based on comments on forums from those who fly the type, and real world 787-10 aircraft performance data, flight manuals, and checklists. Input from type-rated pilots with knowledge of the aircraft handling and envelope will always be greatly valued. My adjustments are generally focused on performance and handling behaviors only. Any issues with the avionics functionality (anything you push a button on or turn a knob for in the cockpit) are not the subject of this project.

I have modified a great many variables and parameters in the available configuration files. I would greatly appreciate feedback on handling, control sensitivies, or other performance related parameters from knowledgable sources so I can continue to improve and update these modifications. If I missed something or you find a performance "glitch" please let me know.

The mod to the flight performance is awesome, plane is finally usable. Felt god awful to fly without the mod.

It seems like after I installed the mod the altitude callouts during landing are gone - is there a fix/is this a known issue ? I would assume it would have come up a lot by now.

Is it possible, this mod causes a bug with the MCDU? At least on the 787-8 and 787-9 when I have this installed on the 787-10. I removed it and now everything is fine.

no, recommend using this mod with heavy Division

I have just tested this mod, and have enhanced in a goodway the flight model for the 78x. However, this mode modified the fuel consumption and I must say that it really bothers me how quickly does the full consume. I know that u have answered that the consumption increase in the cruise, but at 34FT and engines in 77% really consumes fuel.

Hi ALL... Unfortunately, the modification does not work properly. The plane swings throughout the flight, synchronously left and right. Flight on autopilot on various routes and flight plans created by Simbrief. After knocking out the modification, the problem stopped.

If you’re using with Boeing Heavy mod this is a known issue.

Yes, I am just using the Heavy mod. Thank you for your quick reply.

do you mind telling us how to change the values to change the height of the aircraft to the proper height?

    Also love the mod

The real aircraft sits lower than the in-game simulation allows. You can adjust these values using the aircraft.cfg file and adjusting the first three contact points. However, I found it difficult to set the on ground height lower without the wheels either clipping below the ground or creating handling problems on taxi, takeoff, and landing. If you find a solution to lowering the aircraft stance let me know and I'll incorporate into the mod.

    Works perfectly, looks great

and is a great upgrade for the plane.

Even works with the B78XH mod

    It is compatible with SU11,

    thanks for that

Whats sad is that most of the liveries for the 787 dont work with this mod.. They are all outdated.

    d

Could be a simple matter of adjusting the aircraft.cfg. Do you have a particular livery in mind I could test to see if I can resolve compatibility issues?

    Maybe lights next? ;)

What lighting systems are of interest? I haven't looked into this yet.

Exterior lights. They’re very muted in the default. Hoping you can give the same treatment as you did with the longitude

Okay - time permitting, I'll take a look at those lights.
