Description
For my first attempt at MSFS modelling I chose my local airfield Sleap (EGCV) where I gained my PPL. Please note that this is a living project that I am still actively working on. All custom objects were created by myself in Blender, many using textures taken at Sleap airfield with my phone camera. Of the many elements modelled, the more difficult were the custom animated Windsock, Flag, Landing 'T', and wind turbine. I have learn't much since I started this project, if only I knew then what I know now!
Sleap, UK - EGCV
Sleap (pronounced "Slape") is an ex-Royal Air Force airfield, opened in 1943, and used by RAF advanced flying training. Initially it was the base for No. 81 Operational Training Unit equipped with Armstrong Whitworth Whitley bomber aircraft. See 'https://www.shropshireaeroclub.com/heritage' for more.

Las Vegas Municipal Airport, USA - KLVS
Las Vegas Municipal Airport (IATA: LVS, ICAO: KLVS, FAA LID: LVS) is five miles (8 km) northeast of Las Vegas, in San Miguel County, New Mexico. The airport was a stop on the first air route between Denver and El Paso that began in 1929. Mid-Continental Air Express first flew the route with stops at Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Las Vegas, Santa Fe, and Albuquerque. Western Air Express acquired the route by 1931, replaced by Varney Speed Lines Lockheed Vegas in 1934. In 1937 Continental Airlines flew Lockheed Model 10 Electras followed by Lockheed Lodestars.

It's local to me, and my son Alex volunteers there occasionally particularly during Sleapkosh !

Glad you like it.
I gained my PPL at Sleap so to me it will always be a special place. It was also my first MSFS scenery project and there are many things I'd do differently if I knew then what I know now! I'll get around to finishing it one day...
Best wishes,
Phil

Nope, nothing to do with me! Apologies for not replaying sooner, I've been working in the Arctic with limited communications.

G-LAMS was originally at Liverpool where I learnt to fly.
BTW you have a well deserved donation from me
over 3 years ago
Hi David,
Many thanks for the donation, glad you like it.
The model looks okay from a distance, but is a bit rough around the edges close up. Creating a livery was a steeper learning curve than I anticipated. However, now my knowledge of the process has increased (from zero), I'll endeavour to create a better quality livery add-on for the sim in the future. I have many logbook entries for G-LAMS.
Best regards,
Phil

Really like the airfield, any chance of a few people there ?

Thank you. Good point regarding adding people, I'll see what I can do next update.

Only just noticed, the windsocks at the fuelling area "fly" in opposite directions. Suggest you modify them to point in the correct direction; I'm not sure if either of them point in the correct direction

Fixed! :)

Sorry, it doesn't appear to be fixed. The one nearest the white fuel tank appears to be correct but the one nearest the smaller hut is 180 degrees off.

Looks very realistic having visited both by air and land.
My only request is for a few open hangars with some interest inside
😁

Hi ezwingman,
Thank you, glad you like it so far. I'm working on the hangars at the moment, more detail to come.
