    Turweston Aerodrome - EGBT - Image 1

    Description

Turweston Aerodrome, UK - hand-crafted airport

Another handcrafted UK airport which was requested. I have spent far too much time working on this one! I think this will be my first and last attempt at a solar farm...but the results are worth it I think. I modelled the control tower building from scratch too.
    I hope you enjoy it!

    Info:

Turweston Aerodrome (ICAOEGBT) located near the village of Turweston, in north Buckinghamshire near the Northamptonshire border. It is a former Royal Air Force Second World War bomber training facility, now a business park and airfield which is home to the Light Aircraft Association.
Originally RAF Turweston, based on 220 acres of land in the north west corner of Buckinghamshire, just off the A43 road and located 2 nautical miles east of the market town of Brackley. Opened on 23 November 1942 it had three concrete runways and one T1 hangar.

    Includes:

    • Completely overhauled airport from scratch
    • Runway and taxiways based on airport charts.
    • Custom model for control tower, wooden fence and 'Welcome to Turweston Aerodrome' sign.
    • Custom runway, apron, and car park paint markings
    • Taxiway signs - as close to the real-life ones as I could find references for
    • Accurate windsocks
    • THOUSANDS of other hand placed stock scenery objects (damn you solar farm!!)
    • Fixed local scenery where autogen had failed miserably

    Install:

Extract the "gobby-turweston" folder to your /Community/ folder.

    Notes:
    · The draw distance on the solar panels isn't very far, which results in the panels dissapearing when you aren't close enough. I can't fix this in the SDK unfortunately. (This is now even worse since SU5)
    · I can't make taxiways 'one-way', so its not possible to accurately reflect the 'enter on left / exit on right' nature of the parking apron.
    · There's no night lighting as the aerodrome isn't operational at night.

    Sim Update 5:

    · Draw distance has got a lot worse, especially on the solar panels.

    · Grass length is now ridiculous and cannot be fixed with the SDK since SU5. This means the Welcome sign is impossible to read until Asobo revert the grass back to normal length.

I thought it said it had night lighting and assumed that was the runway

Great scenery! Would it be possible to add an exclusion zone underneath the solar farm? It currently creates 2 overlapping solar farms when you use Mamu82's Powerlines and Solar Farms. Either way, fantastic work

Great scenery....bit of a cheek, really, but I don't suppose you could use your skills on Hinton-in-the-Hedges EGDB. I live in between both, and frequently do short flights between.

Hopefully, with your skills you could tackle EGHH Bournemouth.

I was going to pass because I have so many small airports already but after reading how much work you did & the solar panels(preaching to the choir) I thought it's to nice of an airport to not have it. Thanks so much !

Love these airports, good size too, Gamston is a good one to do and if you really want to go a little bit bigger Northolt is wanting some love.

Just had a play. It looks fantastic and full kudos for doing the solar panels. They'll produce some incredible effects when flying in.
