    RAF Northolt, UK - hand-crafted airport

    Another hand-crafted airport, using mostly stock objects although I've modelled the main hangars and a couple of other bits. Based as closely to airport charts as I could find.

    RAF Northolt (ICAO: EGWU) is a Royal Air Force station in South Ruislip, 2 miles from Uxbridge in the London Borough of Hillingdon, western Greater London, England, approximately 6 miles north of London Heathrow Airport. The station handles many private civil flights in addition to Air Force flights.

     

    Northolt predates the establishment of the Royal Air Force by almost three years, having opened in May 1915, making it the oldest RAF base. Originally established for the Royal Flying Corps, it has the longest history of continuous use of any RAF airfield. Before the outbreak of the Second World War, the station was the first to take delivery of the Hawker Hurricane. The station played a key role during the Battle of Britain, when fighters from several of its units, including No. 303 Polish Fighter Squadron, engaged enemy aircraft as part of the defence of London. It became the first base to have squadrons operating Supermarine Spitfire aircraft within German airspace.

    Install:

    25 ILS is already working on default Northolt, and has not been removed or changed in this update.

    I just tested it in a Cessna 152 and it works fine on 108.500

    Right ok, it seems the Freq is not showing on the G3000 when i flew in on the Longitude. Thanks for the reply.

    Love the scenery as I worked there in ATC for 10 years on and off. The only missing bit of scenery is the ATC Tower, would it be possible to get this added in the future I might have a few pictures if you need them?

    Thank you for your work. Have you seen the RAF hangars created for the RAF Shawbury scenery? ( https://flightsim.to/download/egos-raf-shawbury/5326 ).
    It might be worth reaching out to the designer to see if you can use his models in any RAF airfields you create. It would bring another level of consistency to the sim.
