Description
See Changelogs at the bottom of the page for what's new. Also available for 2024 (seperate listing).
"Aircraft on approach to Rwy 27 are to cross the main road at a minimum height of 100ft AGL. Rwy 27 RH circuits. First 290m of Rwy 27 is sterile for landing. First 295m of Rwy 9, prior to turning circle, is sterile"
ILS 110.55 (may not load in map view but you'll pick it up on approach). ADF 325.
Whilst in real life Filton was closed in 2012, and the runway has mostly been dug up, in MSFS it can live on.
Now expanded from a scenery add-on to a working airfield, this download takes you back to sometime in the 90's, just before the RAF buildings began being knocked down and, later, the airfield given up to housing. You'll need the UK2000 common library (MSFS Marketplace) and edhk-lights-pack installed for apron lighting, clutter and features such as fences.
Included are:
- The Brabazon Hangars.
- Hangar 16U. A grade II listed building, constructed in 1917 for the Royal Flying Corp and home to RAF Filton's Spitfires and Hurricanes in WW2.
- Hangar 16M. Slightly older, this 1915 hangar is also listed and has history with the Royal Flying Corp, BAE, and the Great Western Air Ambulance.
- Hangar 16S. Now the home of the fantastic Aerospace Bristol Museum, this was also where Spitfire RR232 (?) was rebuilt. The last aircraft built at Filton.
- Flight Operations Building / Passenger Lounge.
- ATC Tower.
- Filton Central Fire Station.
- V-bomber Apron.
- Sea Wolf Assembly Site.
- RAF Ops Building, Gas Defence Centre, Stores, Transformer Building, Air Raid Shelters....
- 27 ILS Beacons.
- Minor scenery mods in the circuit.
Feedback would be gladly received, especially if there's detail I'm missing and you have photos of what should be there.
PS: If you're flying helicopters in this area look out for me and check out my detailed Almondsbury NPAS/GWAA base and St Athan SAR.

I am planning to fly my way through the episodes of the BBC Radio 4 series 'Cabin Pressure' and as Filton is believed (by many) to be the fictional home of MJN Air -'Fitton' - this is now going to be the start or end (or both) of many flying adventures.

Nice! Love the new hangars and other improvements to this old airfield. It is (or was I guess) my local airfield and I'm still a bit miffed over its closure. It's also kinda weird how Asobo have kept this active in the sim. I know they use an old database but they've deactivated some other airports in patches so dunno why they kept this one alive. Not complaining though!
Oh and I alos love the giraffes you plopped down at the Wild Place! Although that might be part of your Almondsbury helipad scenery. Either way it gave me a chuckle when I was flying around in my Mini 500.

Well spotted - it was going to take a local to see them!

I live very close to Filton and was hoping someone might do the Brabazon hangar and control tower. I wasn't aware of the Concorde tribute addon so I've got two files to download and install later. Thanks a lot for doing this one and I look forward to trying both out later.
Any additions to the field would be great such as fencing and signs would be great if there is any way to add these.
Edit: Just tried them both out and the hangar is indeed a very nice addition.

Thanks a lot for making this. I remember downloading a concorde scenry add-on quite a while ago, and found it again here:
Filton Airfield (EGTG) in the 90's
The now closed Filton Airfield, brought back to life more or less as it was in the mid-90s with maybe some artistic licence to include the UAS and RAF buildings. Birthplace of the Bristol Fighter, Brabazon and Concorde as well as once being home to the Royal Flying Corp, RAF and Bristol University Air Squadron. Hope you enjoy.

MINOR: Continued clean up after the last world update. Mostly bringing back MSFS buildings that I'd hidden because they were poor autogen.

EGTG - Filton Airfield
Filton Airfield (EGTG) is a meticulously crafted scenery add-on for MSFS2024, specifically designed to enhance the historical representation of the airfield as it appeared in the 1990s. This version removes artifacts and adds functional elements like runways and real-world features, while including detailed structures such as the Brabazon Hangars and operational facilities. Users are required to have the UK2000 common library and the edhk-lights-pack for optimal performance. The scenery aims to recreate a slice of aviation history while maintaining usability for virtual pilots.
