Based upon the idea and request of “JohnG,” I’m pleased to offer to the community a revamped Diego Garcia Airport for an ultimate military airport experience.
Diego Garcia is a joint US/UK military base, although it mainly hosts US naval and air forces.
Considering its secretive military nature, it wasn’t easy to get detailed references of the airport other than scattered satellite and random old images on Google, most of which “JohnG” thankfully provided.
Therefore, I tried to replicate the airport vicinity as much as possible, noticing that it is dynamic, and what you see today on the satellite might not be there the next day.
Third-party Contents:
This customized airport contains third-party static models that are permitted for personal free use only, including games. Any commercial re-use therefore is strictly prohibited without the consent of the original copyright holder.
Installation:
1. Unzip the downloaded file.
2. Drag and drop the unzipped folder into the game "Community" folder.
For example, this is the path of Microsoft Store installation:
C:\Users\name\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Community\
For any future updates:
First remove/delete the old folder and replace it with the new one.

Version History
FJDG, Diego Garcia Navy Base version 2. This version was optimized to properly work with MSFS 2020 latest version. Notes: 1. The Services folder (which made all vehicles color army green) is removed due to compatibility issues. 2. To install: unzip, copy and paste the folder into the game Community folder. Make sure to remove previous version, if any. 3. Aircraft Carrier is still a static model and can't be used for landing.

boys out there, and I got promoted there. Part of that tour, I volunteered for a detachment we had on Kadena air base, Okinawa. Memories, memories.
I've never been to Hawaii, but I do feel Diego "Footprint of Freedom" was easily the most beautiful
place I'd ever been. Oh, the little sand crabs could surprise ya! lol.
I've been flying the MSFS24 map of Diego, I wonder if I could land near the beach somewhere, plant
my butt into that sand one more time...

I have a question for you. Would you be willing to do a military base for me? It is KMER and it's Castle AFB, CA. I am impressed with the airplanes you did for Diego Garcia and I'd like it done for Castle too, I'd be willing to pay for it. The purpose of this is I am recreating my flight for Desert Storm from Castle AFB to Diego Garcia in MSFS 2020. I'd like it to be as accurate as possible. I can get some pictures for you to help. It was a Strategic Air Command (SAC) base and it had B52's on the B52 ramp and KC135 tankers in front of the tower. Of course all aircraft are backed into their spots and there were jet blast shields between the tankers as they were parked back to back. Please let me know if you would be interested in this project. Thanks

I was confused by this too but I found out there are 2 folders that need to be in the community folder. The second folder has the planes and vehicles. There is a document that will tell you how to do it.

Good job. The only suggestion I'd make is the B52 airplanes need to be backed in their spots, not facing forward. This is to expedite takeoffs by engine startup and taxi without needing to be pushed back.

This breaks glider starts in SU11 due to incorrect configuration of the services.spb folder.

should be format
FJDG-DiegoGarcia\diego-garcia-base\AirportServices\FJDG\Services.spb
It breaks the ability to do glider takeoffs by waggling the rudder.
Tested and confirmed.

Thank you for this scenery. On my computer, I cannot land on the deck of the carrier. The deck seems to be at the level of the ground. under the carrier.
