Version History
Sorry, no 3D model updates for now. I'm currently unable to export the new 3D model from Blender to MSFS2020, and it's also not possible to build the new package in MSFS2020. The new build now supports TDS GTNXi as the default variant https://tdssim.com/ - Added TDS GTN as the default variant. PMS50 is now available as an extra variant. - Fixed electrical system. - Fixed G3X data. - Fixed interior lights. - Updated flight model.

Sorry to hear the Electrical change did not work.
I see the emojis. They were not there when I read my post yesterday. The wierd formatting of my text was. Footwell lights are white and they don't bother me because my seating position in the cockpit is high enough.
Sorry again.

- the voltage problem discussed below
- the lights being on in the footwell below the dashboard
-the CG is too far forward and doesn't move with weight adjustments
-Not having the payware G3x so the setting to connect to the Autopilot to do a ILS approach is greyed out (unavailable)
- This last one is a personal one that varies from person to person- But- the takeoff characteristics where it sticks to the runway until about 80 Kts or full back on the elevator at which time it jumps (comes unglued) from the pavement and goes nose-up unless you corrected.
If you're comfortable with file modification, use the notepad to change the following four lines near the top of the [ELECTRICAL] part of the aircraft systems.cfg file with the following. Remember to make a copy of the file first.
battery.1 = Connections:bus.1#Capacity:15#Voltage:curve.1#Name:Main_Battery ; Main Battery
alternator.1 = Connections:bus.1#IEng:0#RatedVoltage:14#Load:curve.2#Name:Alternator
curve.1 = 0:11, 0.1:11.5, 0.5:12, 0.9:12.3, 1:12.5 ; Battery voltage for capacity %
curve.2 = 500:0,600:42,1100:55,1600:60 ; Load from RPM table 15A at idle & 35 at 1600rpm
This should give you a positive battery charge rate.
I don't know how to change the footwell lights without shutting them all off but I never look below the panel when flying, can't activate the ILS since I don't have the payware G3x and, have adjusted load and flight charateristics to my liking.
So, even with the remaining faults, I still love flying the RV-7A.
Still love flying the RV-7

I appreciate that this is freeware but it has too many problems to be worthwhile. Maybe the earlier versions were better but currently it is nowhere near the payware quality claimed by some people, and it does not look likely to be fixed.
By the way I do not have any red footwell lighting at all,

So I recently downloaded this plane for MSFS2020 based on the very good reviews it had when it was first released.
Unfortunately the latest version available has a few problems.
The most serious is that the electrical system dies completely after a short while even when the engine has never been started and nothing has even been switched on.
It seems like the battery gets drained by something even if nothing is in use and with the engine running the alternator is not functioning to run the electrics and charge the battery.
Sadly it appears that this version has been abandoned now that the author has moved on to MSFS2024.
Also I would have preferred the Garmin G1000NXi system.

Way superior to so many payware addons, thank you very much.

Thanks for this nice aircraft. Two comments however:
- tailwheel is extremely sensitive, never flown a Van's before but it feels a little much, guess I'll have to tune the sensitivity
- more annoyingly, even at full power, the alternator gives out -4 amps, so after about 30 minutes the battery dies. I haven't looked into the .cfg files yet for the source of the problem.
Cheers!
