Description
WA17 Majerle STOLport is a small airfield on a farm just north of Duvall, WA, a suburb in the foothills east of Seattle. It’s a small grass strip mowed out of farmland. In fact, it’s currently closed, as the Majerle family sold the farm and the new owner hasn’t kept up the strip maintenance. However, in our Flight Simulator world we prefer to keep it open as it’s a beautiful base from which to explore up and down the scenic Snoqualmie Valley. Head south to Fall City to see Snoqualmie Falls (from Twin Peaks), or North to Monroe, do a touch-and-go at First Air, and then fly east through the mountains.
The AI-generated WA17 had significant issues, the biggest of which were tall trees at the end of the runway (which aren’t there in reality) that made it extremely difficult to land on. Also, the grass runway wasn’t visible at all, when in fact the lighter color from the mowed field makes it very visible from the air. These were corrected, and some objects were added to give the area more life. (Including a couple of Easter eggs that Duvall residents will appreciate.)
To see a real life STOL landing and takeoff at WA17, check out John Marzulli’s video on YouTube.
All objects are standard MSFS objects, except the windsock and flags which come from Windy Things and the XCub, which comes from the totof aircraft library. (If you don't like static aircraft, just omit the totof library; the airport will work fine without it but will not have the XCub.)

BTW, the link you posted was actually to your IL-76 video, but I found the Majerle video on your page. That link is: https://youtu.be/JfeHIBMOE3Y?si=p3x5TBiv1qgQYZQS
... if you want to update the original post.
Thanks! I'm going to upload an FS24 update for my HI29 strip later this week.

Apologies for the quick update. Working on this while recovering from everyone's favorite pandemic, and with my foggy brain I accidentally deleted the static plane, and screwed up the runway start to boot. Ooops. All better now, and thoroughly retested!

One more tweak. WU10 aggressively battled my tree exclusions, so I tweaked some more to get the scenery back to looking like the landing video. Rewatching the video to ensure accuracy, I also noticed the windsock placement, so moved that for good measure.

What? This wasn't meant for a C-5 Galaxy either? But... but what if I want to land next to one of my best friend's in the world? Well, I guess I'll just have to take out the local farmers and native wildlife to do it.
In all seriousness, great job. Having something that holds personal significance is what makes this game more fun and rewarding.
