After the service with Germanair and Sudflugwest, two DC-6s (D-ABAY and D-ABAZ) were acquired by Transportflug Cargo (D-ABAH was then stored). Even though the company used the airplanes as freigthers, they were not converted to a offical cargo variant, such as A or B, keeping the regular passenger doors during their last operational years.

Nach dem Dienst bei Germanair und Südflugwest wurden zwei DC-6 (D-ABAY und D-ABAZ) von Transportflug Cargo erworben (D-ABAH wurde dann gelagert). Obwohl das Unternehmen die Flugzeuge als Frachter einsetzte, wurden sie nicht auf eine offizielle Frachtvariante wie A oder B umgebaut, wobei die regulären Passagiertüren während der letzten Betriebsjahre beibehalten wurden.

PMDG DC-6B - American Airlines

PMDG DC-6B - Varig
Varig inherited the DC-6s from Real Aerovias (see painting available for download here) when it acquired the latter during 1961, which in turn acquired them from SAS (PP-YSI, YSJ and YSL) and Northwest (YSM and YSN), even though they were no longer the most modern equipment available, and therefore not used by Varig on international routes, they were very useful on high-density domestic destinations, serving mainly Brazil´s capitals in the south and southeast. They were removed from Varig's service in 1968 with a great service record and no accidents.

PMDG DC-6 Sleeper - SAS Scandinavian Air Systems
Here depicted the DC-6 as operated in the beginning of the operation with ABA Sweden SAS, the DC-6 were of great importance both to the consolidation of SAS during it´s early years and also to the start of the transpolar routes, due to the exceptional reliability and the gyrocompass autopilot, shortening the travel time between scandinavia and north america and far asia. Some machines were fitted in the later abandoned sleeper variant, here visible in the upper row of small windows.
