    Description

After the collapse of Südwestflug, in 1968 the company was rebranded as Germanair with new management and HQ moved from Stuttgart to Frankfurt. The Company employed three DC-6s; D-ABAH, D-ABAY and D-ABAZ. The company kept on focusing in the same market; connecting Germany and southern european summer destinations, but with much more sucess then it´s rpedecessor, since the company grew to add jets to the operation and eventually merging with Bavaria in late 70s and today is still active as part of TUIfly.

file inside the .zip is a .ptp.

what program do i have to use for this extension?

    Hi Pesto,

Open the PMDG Operations Center that comes with your PMDG DC-6, Select "Aircraft and Liveries" from the top menu then click "Install from PTP file" and select the .PTP file you downloaded. This way you are secured that the livery will keep working if PMDG or Microsoft updates their structure.

Hope you have fun with this livery!

    PMDG DC-6B - Varig

    PMDG DC-6B - Varig

Varig inherited the DC-6s from Real Aerovias (see painting available for download here) when it acquired the latter during 1961, which in turn acquired them from SAS (PP-YSI, YSJ and YSL) and Northwest (YSM and YSN), even though they were no longer the most modern equipment available, and therefore not used by Varig on international routes, they were very useful on high-density domestic destinations, serving mainly Brazil´s capitals in the south and southeast. They were removed from Varig's service in 1968 with a great service record and no accidents.

PMDG DC-6 Sleeper - SAS Scandinavian Air Systems

Here depicted the DC-6 as operated in the beginning of the operation with ABA Sweden SAS, the DC-6 were of great importance both to the consolidation of SAS  during it´s early years and also to the start of the transpolar routes, due to the exceptional reliability and the gyrocompass autopilot, shortening the travel time between scandinavia and north america and far asia. Some machines were fitted in the later abandoned sleeper variant, here visible in the upper row of small windows.
