    Koutuwai Point Airstrip (NZ99) - Image 1

    Description

    Koutuwai Point Airstrip for MSFS

    Fictitious ICAO code NZ99
    Version 1.3

    --Description--

In Marlborough, New-Zealand one can find several small airstrips. Indeed, accessing some places by road takes hours and it's not much shorter by boat.
This little strip is located in Kenepuru Sound and as I don't really know if it has an official name I named it by the nearby point, Koutuwai Point.
It's a beautiful place IRL and doesn't seem to be used often. But the challenge is to approach low and slow over the sea and land on this dead-end field. Obviously you can't land here with a large plane! :)

    --The scene--

It's a new airfield as it doesn't exist in default MSFS. I used only default assets so no need for extra libraries.
The surrounding has also been edited a bit (vegetation...).
If anyone has good photos of the place, or any information, don't hesitate to let me know.

    --What's new--

    v1.3
Made compatible with World Update 12 "New Zealand" from February 2023.

    v1.2
Removed the Airport Services definition files that caused services to disappear from not only this airfield (as intended) but also all the airports in the region or even worldwide (bug from SU5).
So now you may see marshaller or pushback here even if it's not realistic at all, waiting for this situation to be corrected by Microsoft/Asobo.

    v1.1
-Reworked to make it compatible with Sim Update 5
-added a water runway and a boat

    v1.0
-corrected runway profile to better match Orbx NZ 10m mesh. Of course it still works with the default mesh.
-fences redone to match Orbx NZ 10m mesh.
    -added some crates
    -added a parking area

    v0.9
    Initial release

    --Installation--

! Delete any previous version of NZ99 you may have!
Just unzip and drop the "sbworks-koutuwaipoint-nz99" folder into your "Community" folder of MSFS.

This scenery is part of my "Marlborough airstrips project" and so it is well completed with:
    - Titirangi Bay Airstrips (NZ97) -> https://www.flightsim.to/file/16263/titirangi-bay-airstrips-nz97
    - Anakoha Bay Airstrip (NZ98) -> https://www.flightsim.to/file/14667/anakoha-bay-airstrip-nz98

    --Credits--

All work done by SBWorks (Stéphane Beilliard).

This reminds me of a real life airstrip in the same region, Port Gore (see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pbTagrhl13Q). Would be great to see that recreated in MSFS with selectable runways and the house at the beach end!

Yes Port Gore is on the list! Meanwhile, it already exists as addon from someone else (search for Nelson bay airstrips).

Can you make a containing folder so that everything isn't just dumped out into the downloads folder when unzipped?

I see what you mean. The v1.0 zip file has been updated (content is unchanged in v1.0)

Thanks. Does this work with the orbx terrain mesh?

Yes it works with the Orbx NZ mesh but I need to redo the fences.
