In northern France, Bretagne and Normandie stand side by side as regions where landscape and architecture are deeply intertwined, shaped by centuries of maritime life, faith, and conflict. Though neighboring, they offer distinct atmospheres: one raw and mineral, the other pastoral and luminous, each expressed through iconic landmarks and powerful scenery.

Bretagne is defined by the constant presence of the ocean and a landscape that feels almost elemental. Granite cliffs, windswept moors, and jagged coastlines form a dramatic backdrop for medieval towns and fortresses. Architecture here is solid and defensive, built to endure storms and invasions: stone churches, enclosed parish complexes, and massive castles rooted in the rock. Along the Emerald Coast, Fort La Latte commands the sea from its promontory, while inland sites like the walled city of Saint-Malo, the spires of Quimper Cathedral, and the mysterious alignments of Carnac anchor the region’s identity between faith, trade, and ancient ritual.

Normandie reveals a softer but equally striking landscape, where green bocage, river estuaries, and orchards roll gently toward the Channel. Its coastline alternates between vast beaches and brilliant white cliffs, most famously at Étretat, while monumental architecture rises serenely from the countryside. Half-timbered houses, Romanesque abbeys, and soaring Gothic churches define the built environment. The immense Mont-Saint-Michel, poised between land and sea, embodies the region’s poetic balance, while the Basilique de Lisieux dominates its town with pale stone, classical symmetry, and spiritual grandeur.

This mod for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 adds several landmarks that are absent from the vanilla games. It compiles all my mods released for MSFS 2020 for this area and a few extra new new ones.
