Sisteron - Vaumeilh aerodrome (formerly Sisteron-Thèze aerodrome1) (ICAO code: LFNS) is an aerodrome in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department. Located in the town of Vaumeilh, on the banks of the Durance, it has an unpaved track, and has no luminous markings. It can be used by airplanes, gliders, helicopters, ULMs.
The Sisteron-Vaumeilh aerodrome is an internationally known center of gliding. More than 13,000 hours of glider flight were made there in 2015. Activity is particularly strong there from March to October.
The aerodrome of Sisteron-Vaumeilh hosted the world final of the Sailplane Grand Prix [archive] (SGP) organized by the International Aeronautical Federation from May 8 to 16, 2014. The title of world champion of the 5th SGP was disputed there. On the podium: Didier Hauss, FRA (1st), Sebastian Kawa, POL (2nd), Uli Schwenk, GER (3rd).
