    Description

    Tested in MSFS2024 with BeyondATC. Built using MSFS2020.

    This add-on enhances Svalbard/Longyear Airport (ICAO: ENSB), in accordance to Navigraph/Lido, and online videos.

    The fixes allow BeyondATC, the FMC/FMS, and the default EFB in MSFS2024, to regcognise the airport with RW09/27, updated from RW10/28 since Sep 7, 2023 (based on Navigraph). On Google Earth, RW10/28 is visible as the satellite data was from Jul 19, 2023. Luckily, there's a video of a 737-800 landing on RW09.

    Dependency:

    - Wombiiactual ENxx Asset pack (for the flashing runway guard lights, and the 2 light masts at the terminal).

    - VVNB - Noi Bai International Airport - Ground Base Package (for the hold-short taxi signs; might as well check out my VVNB enhancement for the package if you ever plan on visiting the airport).

    Instructions:

    - MSFS2024: Just extract the ZIP into Community folder, and you're ready to go.

    NOTICE: iniBuilds Svalbard Longyear has been released for MSFS2024, I highly recommend it, this package will, of course, no longer be necessary.

    - MSFS2020:

    1. Get Microsoft airport ENSB Svalbard (World Update V, free) and Microsoft/WombiiActual airport ENLK Leknes (World Update XV, free; for the accurate windsock model).

    2. Get both the main package and "[Extra] Flattened RWY for MSFS2020 only" package, and extract the ZIP files into Community folder.

    Specifics:

    - Added taxiway names.

    - Added "Ramp 2A", used irl, but no name on Navigraph and Lido.

    - Adjusted Ramp 3, 4 to "DOCK_GA" to prevent injected/AI aircrafts from parking there.

    - Adjusted runway names, lighting, and VASI: RW27 PAPI has a 3.4° glide path to match Lido chart, and Navigraph REF RWY27 (19-04).

    - Added/adjusted airport lighting, taxiway signs, and ground markings.

    - Terrain fixes (water inclusion/exclusion, and terraforming). (by Steve66)

    I reccomend getting these freeware airports, as they are 2 main destinations from Svalbard: ENTC - Tromsø Airport, and  ENGM Oslo Gardermoen Airport.

    Known issues, and limitations:

    - Uneven runway surface for MSFS2020 (fixed, please install the "[Extra] Flattened RWY for MSFS2020 only" package).

    - "1742m ->" sign uses "M" instead of "m", not fixable unless custom taxiway signs are to be made.

    Thanks for this. Really improves the airport wonderfully!

    One issue remains. Runway lights fail to show up when arriving at the airport. Everything is great if you load into the airport and depart, but flying in from another destination only has the approach lighting visible while the runway is dark on approach and landing.

    Thanks for the feedback. I'm afraid that's a MSFS bug, because I use the lighting that comes with the runway options in SDK, not a custom one.

    Hi, this addon states it is 2024 compatible, but the required ground package is not. Do we still require that addon for 2024?

    For 2024, airports that come with the sim can be streamed so you don't have to download anything. If you fly here regularly then I'd recommend downloading it to save data and load time.

    Is it possible to correct/add the following?

    1. The runway surface in MSFS 2020 is like a roller coaster, tilting left and right as well as up and down. Can it be flattened some?
    2. Add taxi signs for the runway exits? Watching some videos on Youtube shows that they exist.

    Interesting, the runway seems reasonable, I think. I may flatten it, but I'm not sure if that's realistic.
    For the taxi signs, can you DM me the link to the video(s)? This airport is pretty niche, so more data would be appreciated.
    Edit: ok, there's a A & B exit sign in the video I linked in my post, didn't notice that one at fisrt, as was focusing on smth else.
    Edit 2: Apparently, it's not feasible to flatten the runway.

    Thanks for your reply. Perhaps it's my "ultra" settings which make the runway very uneven? It's definitely a challenge for me to keep the FBW A320 in the center of the runway during landing and takeoff. I only have MSFS2020 and perhaps MSFS2024 has a smoother runway?

    There are many other detailed objects to be found at ENSB in the various Youtube videos. Some examples: Stationary tarmac GPU's, blue taxi lights at the runway ends, various antennas and more.

    Despite its far away location, ENSB is very special place to fly to, with its extreme landscape and challenging weather.

    If I disable ENSB there will be no airport displayed in MSFS2020. Please elaborate. I am only looking for a solution to the uneven surface of the runway.
