Find My Plane  is a free, no-nonsense navigation map which allows you to track your flight in MSFS from any device - PC, Mac, iPad, phone - and from any network.

Key features:

  • Simple setup with no configuration required: no signups, no passwords

  • Runs on any device which runs a web browser - and it runs through the internet so will work on any network, perfect for those who stream the game

  • Free and open source

  • Beautiful maps, including an option for selected aviation data, which you can customise to your preference (have a look at an example flight here)

  • Overlay a flight plan created in SimBrief, the simulator itself or any other software which can produce .PLN files

  • Find your friends: all other users’ flights are also displayed in real time, making meet-ups easy

  • Flexible: either download the Find My Plane client, or if you’re already running the Fly By Wire A320neo  then just search by your flight number (Note: I am not affiliated with Fly By Wire, I’m just using their public API)

App worked very well, but last month ( more than 20x sim running) App did not get position. FW, reinstall, other action did not help). Any solution?

Thanks for the feedback. What error were you getting? Was it reporting sim errors or server errors?

      Thanks

Perfect simple app. Some of the other mapping solutions are doing too much, and it feels like cheating. Here you are saved from the hazzle of moving your map manually.

I would love improvments though. Maybe airport information in the maps? Also when resizing the view and using it on high resolution, the bands at the top and bottom require much. Maybe an option to use a stable link? this way the device you use to browse could be reused between restarts. Maybe a way to share your link across devices, without manually typing it?

Splendid little app, something I've been looking for for so long, and it actually works for me! Just one thing, I can't seem to view the other buttons under the map (connection, traffic, flight plan etc) to use it. Do I have to use a specific browser? Tried it on Safari and Google Chrome. Oh and I'm using it on my iPhone, don't have an iPad.

      Thank you for your feedback!

For the iPhone I maximise the map size by shunting the status markers off the bottom of the screen. In fact the only one which is an actual button is the "upload flight plan" one, and that would struggle to work on iphone anyway, so you're not losing anything really.

I find this program to be very suspicious. First of all it doesn't work. I had 80 sim errors in the first minute. It shows my plane somewhere off the coast of Africa when I'm in the states. Secondly this thing is running through your router and home netwrok. Who knows what kind of information its getting. Use at your own risk.

      Hello DDare,

The location off the coast of Africa is longitude/latitude 0/0 which is what the sim will deliver when, for instance, it is in the menu or for other reason cannot deliver a location. If you were experiencing this during a flight then I would be happy to troubleshoot this with you.

With regard to security, I am extremely respectful of this. My code has been submitted to leading antivirus providers such as Microsoft, Avast and Malwarebytes for verification that it does not contain malicious functions. Notwithstanding this, you are right to exercise caution with any application you download. I go a lot further than most developers by providing the full source code for the program (https://github.com/hankhank10/findmyplane-client) which you can download and run manually if you prefer.

Hello, yesterday it worked fine, today I have the same problem, my plane appears on the coast of Africa. I will test again tomorrow in case it is an error on the web. By the way, thank you very much for your work, I'm really enjoying your application. I add; When my plane shows up in Africa, I can see more planes stuck in the same place, there seem to be more players with this problem.

There are often planes at 0,0 latitude because that is the location that the simulator returns when not actively in flight (ie when you are at the menu)

Without touching anything, yesterday and today it works again 😊

That's a very useful program! Thank you!
But how can I load a flight plan? Up to now I can only use it for following the plane on the map. But that's really great!
    • findmyplane
      2 month(s) ago
If you click the Load Flight Plan button on the bottom left of the browser map window then you can upload a .PLN file

      Hi,
thank you for your answer! I know what my problem was: I got something mixed up. What I wanted was to get the course of a BUSH TRIP showing up in the map. But a bush trip is no / has no PLN-file. So, this was a silly question. Sorry for the inconvienience.

I just found out that the google chrome browser on my old tablet (Android 5.0.1) doesn't show the bottom part of the screen. So, the "Upload flight plan" botton and the others are not displayed.
Installing another browser helped. Maybe this hint can help other users.

      Happy Flying!

The same thing happened to me on my android phone, it was solved by putting the chrome in "pc view".

I love it, this is just what I need, use my Android as a tablet and know where I am flying, congratulations on this great job!
I have a little thing that I find interesting to fix:
When I want to see the data of another player, I can't, because if I touch an airplane for a moment I can see the data and it disappears immediately, but if I hold it down to read the information for longer, the copy image window opens. Is there no way to view the flight data of another plane in a more comfortable way? For this detail I have scored 4'5 instead of 5 stars.

I have this installed 😊 Quick question, am I required to be on multiplayer or "All Players" when flying for the tracker to work? When I set it to "Group" the tracker doesn't appear to work. Great job nonetheless!
    • findmyplane
      2 month(s) ago
No, there is no requirement to be on multiplayer since it pulls data directly from the sim.

I have just tested it on "Group" mode and it works fine for me.

      What error are you seeing?
    • ItsBlitz
      2 month(s) ago
It seems when I have it on multiplayer, it'll track my location just fine, when I go to Group Only, it will say my aircraft is at the center of the prime meridian and equator (next to Africa).
    • findmyplane
      2 month(s) ago
Does that apply even when you are flying? It will always show you there when you are on the menu.

Please could I ask you to raise an issue on github describing the situation and I will look into it with the other developers of the Python-SimConnect library

    Hello,
I test this right now. i love how simple it works without problems. i was looking for such a map. would it be possible to ad a sattelite layer in the different looks?
    • findmyplane
      2 month(s) ago
I've looked into this previously but unfortunately all of the satellite map providers I have looked at are quite expensive. Given this is a project I don't charge for this isn't really feasible.

Lightweight, quick, and gets the job done. Not a ton of bells and whistles, but it's free, and well...it does what it says. It's a moving map! As good or better than some of the paid apps available to do the same thing.

Thanks - that's exactly what I was aiming for!

The key area where I think this is better than other products is that it is truly device agnostic given it runs in a browser.

It also runs across any network - which is why I built it. I stream MSFS on Shadow so can't use other devices on the same local network. I know this is pretty niche use case but it's why I built it for me.

I've an ipad and dosen't know how it works can you help me ?
    • findmyplane
      2 month(s) ago
You need to download the client file (the one here) onto your PC which is running MSFS.

Once you run this it will give you a code. Visit the website in your browser (Safari/Chrome) on your ipad and type in the code.

There's nothing to download to your ipad.

This is absolutely excellent. Very easy to use and does exactly what it promises with minimum fuss. I love having a moving map on my iPad

This is great but I can't seem to load a flight plan in on my iPad (loading one in on desktop web browser works fine). It would be cool if you could implement a way to enter in an ad hoc flight plan in iPad interface ... say by point and click a point on map and hold long enough for a dialog box to pop up and ask if you want to add as waypoint. 😊

Could you let me know what error you are getting on your ipad please?

      Thanks!
