Find My Plane is a free, no-nonsense navigation map which allows you to track your flight in MSFS from any device - PC, Mac, iPad, phone - and from any network.
Key features:
-
Simple setup with no configuration required: no signups, no passwords
-
Runs on any device which runs a web browser - and it runs through the internet so will work on any network, perfect for those who stream the game
-
Free and open source
-
Beautiful maps, including an option for selected aviation data, which you can customise to your preference (have a look at an example flight here)
-
Overlay a flight plan created in SimBrief, the simulator itself or any other software which can produce .PLN files
-
Find your friends: all other users’ flights are also displayed in real time, making meet-ups easy
-
Flexible: either download the Find My Plane client, or if you’re already running the Fly By Wire A320neo then just search by your flight number (Note: I am not affiliated with Fly By Wire, I’m just using their public API)

Security
I take your security and privacy very seriously, which is why you will never be asked to provide an email address, I collect no identifying information about you or your computer and the code is open-source and available to inspect.
The executable file you will download has been digitally signed and has been submitted to Microsoft, Avast and MalwareBytes to confirm that it is free of malware.
Contributing
This is freeware and open source. I don’t want your money, but I do want your suggestions, ideas, bug reports and - if you know how to code - your code contributions to improve this!

8 day(s) agoI would love improvments though. Maybe airport information in the maps? Also when resizing the view and using it on high resolution, the bands at the top and bottom require much. Maybe an option to use a stable link? this way the device you use to browse could be reused between restarts. Maybe a way to share your link across devices, without manually typing it?

17 day(s) agoFor the iPhone I maximise the map size by shunting the status markers off the bottom of the screen. In fact the only one which is an actual button is the "upload flight plan" one, and that would struggle to work on iphone anyway, so you're not losing anything really.

1 month(s) agoThe location off the coast of Africa is longitude/latitude 0/0 which is what the sim will deliver when, for instance, it is in the menu or for other reason cannot deliver a location. If you were experiencing this during a flight then I would be happy to troubleshoot this with you.
With regard to security, I am extremely respectful of this. My code has been submitted to leading antivirus providers such as Microsoft, Avast and Malwarebytes for verification that it does not contain malicious functions. Notwithstanding this, you are right to exercise caution with any application you download. I go a lot further than most developers by providing the full source code for the program (https://github.com/hankhank10/findmyplane-client) which you can download and run manually if you prefer.

2 month(s) agoBut how can I load a flight plan? Up to now I can only use it for following the plane on the map. But that's really great!

2 month(s) agothank you for your answer! I know what my problem was: I got something mixed up. What I wanted was to get the course of a BUSH TRIP showing up in the map. But a bush trip is no / has no PLN-file. So, this was a silly question. Sorry for the inconvienience.

1 month(s) agoInstalling another browser helped. Maybe this hint can help other users.
Happy Flying!

2 month(s) agoI have a little thing that I find interesting to fix:
When I want to see the data of another player, I can't, because if I touch an airplane for a moment I can see the data and it disappears immediately, but if I hold it down to read the information for longer, the copy image window opens. Is there no way to view the flight data of another plane in a more comfortable way? For this detail I have scored 4'5 instead of 5 stars.

2 month(s) agoThe key area where I think this is better than other products is that it is truly device agnostic given it runs in a browser.
It also runs across any network - which is why I built it. I stream MSFS on Shadow so can't use other devices on the same local network. I know this is pretty niche use case but it's why I built it for me.

2 month(s) agoOnce you run this it will give you a code. Visit the website in your browser (Safari/Chrome) on your ipad and type in the code.
There's nothing to download to your ipad.
