Mega mod for PNG and western New Guinea - Image 1

    Description

This is a single downloadable zip that includes various mods covering Papua New Guinea and western New Guinea (in Indonesia), including:

Follow the links above for more details on each mod.

For your convenience, you can download this mega mod and unzip it in your MSFS community folder.  You should then have each of the above folders (wantok-navaids-png-resurrected, etc) at the top level of your community folder.

Then in future you only need to update one mod (the mega mod) instead of each individual mod. If you've previously downloaded some of the individual mods, you can remove them from your flightsim.to downloads list, so you only get notified about updates to this mega mod.

If you like bush flying in PNG and western New Guinea, check out Bush Divers!

Hi, have you ever tested it on MSFS24? Starting on Bush Divers VA and I want to know, thx for the mod!! Looks great!

I'm in the process of making a bush trip based on the book "Above the Treetops" which was put out by the photographer(?) of "Missionary Bush Pilot". It has 36 airports that are featured in the book. I'm almost ready to load it into flightsim.to, but there is one airport, listed on the map (Little Nav Map) but is not an MSFS airport. The name is Wanakipa. It has no ICAO so I created one (YWKA). (Which is not used by anything else, and I cannot find any reference to "Wanakipa" online.) It is 8.2 miles almost due north of AYKG. It is the only airport of the 36 that does not have a runway and is nothing but trees. I couldn't interest you in creating that airport for this bush trip, could I? I was hoping it was included in another package, like this one, but sadly it isn't.
Would sure appreciate it if you could churn it out if it's not too much trouble? If so, please let me know.
    Thank you,
    TB2

Hi, I see the strip you mean - looks like it's a one way strip, approach from the Lagaip valley, landing on 18 and takeoff on 36. I believe the spelling is "Wanikipa" and the ICAO (for some operator/s anyway) is AYWP. I'm not active in making new addons for MSFS right now, but when I return to it, I'll put this on the list. Cheers!

Haha, thanks, but as someone with senior PNG politicians in the family, that's not a job I would want!

I found this mod recently and it is the perfect format, all in one. I have landed on about 10 runways and it seems to work fine. -I would like to see some indicator on the world map to differentiate the repaired tracks. I love the stol, thanks for your work.

Great mod thanks, but WAVV (Wamena) shows as a grass strip when it should be tarmac (and shows as tarmac in the screenshot for the Papua bush trip.

Hi, thanks. My mods don't currently modify WAVV Wamena at all - what you are seeing is the stock airport. It used to have a tarmac runway but now for some reason it has a grass strip in the default sim. I see there is a mod for Wamena (but I haven't tried it): https://flightsim.to/file/17658/wavv-wamena-airport

Hey. How is it now after the new World Update Oceania? Can i still use your mods?

something is wrong with AYWG. It's getting placed 100's of miles away from it's actual location. Way up near Madang. I need to do more testing, I'm not sure if it's the update that's doing it. Making a flight plan in little nav map and importing it is doing some weird stuff. Showing it 1000's of feet higher than it should be and so on.

Okay, i used your mods with the new WU, i dosnt had any CTD or else. Maybe you just have to repack your files, open it in SDK and save it again

@trickedlist Thanks, yes there should be no problem using this mod after WU13 except possibly a few places where vegetation or runway slope are slightly off. I will be releasing a new version soon, to include the 15 new airstrips in PNG.

@KaptainKaela Thanks. Yes, looks like there is a problem with two of my custom airfields: I used AYWG as the ICAO code for my custom airfield at Wangeto, in the Finschhafen Ranges. But WU13 is now using the AYWG code for Wanigela airfield down on the Oro coast (before WU13, this had code WGL). Similarly, I used the code AYMZ for my custom airfield at Mangamanau, at the base of the Jimi valley, but in WU13 the code AYMZ is being used for the new Mapua airfield on Tatau island off New Ireland. Short term, I'd suggest you just delete the "wantok-png-airfields" folder from your MSFS community folder, until I release a new version of this mega mod. And then do a reload of the scenery library into LNM, of course.

I've now released an updated wantok-png-airfields (version 1.2.0) which fixes the issues caused by ICAO changes in World Update 13. For now, please delete wantok-png-airfields in your community folder and install the new version from https://flightsim.to/file/36751/papua-new-guinea-airstrips ... I will update the mega mod soon with the new version, along with updates to some other mods.

Hello, the navaid package included in the mega mod is the old version and doesn't work properly. replacing it with the newer 1.0.2 version available via the individiual nav aid package you offer restores functionality.

Hi, thanks for the comment. Yes, I will update the mega mod once most of the component packages get their next update (I'm trying to minimise how often people have to update it).
