World Sightseeing Tour - Bush Trips Part 1 - North America (West) - Image 1

    Description

Welcome to the World Sightseeing Tour - a series of bushtrips taking you around the world to see the best of what this flight sim world has to offer. The bush trips are modelled in a similar style to the default bush trips - complete with route map/loading screens and fully translated into all currently supported languages. Each bush trip is around 1000 nautical miles with legs averaging 50nm. Some missing airfields have been added where needed (to keep leg lengths reasonable), although they are fairly basic and would be considered placeholders until they are updated/added in the default sim. These bush trips use the default DA62 and weather is set to live and can be changed as needed.

This first download contains the first 18 bush trips, starting in Alaska and travelling through western Canada, the USA and Central America to finish in Colombia.

    Part 1:   18 Bush trips - 384 Legs - 20095 Nautical Miles - 159'27" flight time

I am using the excellent BushMissionGen by f99mlu to help create these bush trips, and planning done in LittleNavMap

    Enjoy!

    FAQ

Why the DA62? Can this be changed?

It has a cruising speed of 150-160kts which I figured was a sweet spot for sightseeing/long journeys. It stops very quickly - great for smaller airstrips. Good climb rate. There are no "steam gauge" aircraft currently in the sim that fit these criteria so this seemed the best option (otherwise my choice may have been different). You can change the aircraft to whatever you like before starting each bush trip - check the forums for instructions on how to do this.

The Navlog makes reference to a landmark or sight that isn't there.

Given the ongoing development to the sim, I have just created a route that would see as many of these landmarks/sights as possible, whether they currently exist in the sim or not. They may get added into the default sim at a later date, there are also many scenery/landmark addons available on this site for download. In some cases I have created and added some landmarks which are included in these bush trips - again, like the airports I have added, I would consider them placeholders, as my 3D modelling skills are not great - but it's better than nothing.

When will the next part be available?

No date exactly as these bush trips are time consuming to create - and I have to fly them all to test out the navlog (to make sure the instructions can be followed reasonably well). Also real world stuff slows things down.

Why start in Alaska - it's one of the areas that needs a serious imagery update

Wales (Alaska) seemed like a good starting/finishing point when I started working on the plan in the map - I didn't realise until the process was well under way that some areas in Alaska had poor base imagery, although there's still a LOT of great looking areas across this massive state.

How long do these trips take to complete?

I tried to make the legs around 50nm on average (depending on airport locations some are more, some less) which would generally mean a flight of about 20 minutes each leg and around 8 or 9 hours for a bush trip (similar to the original Nevada bush trip which I think has a great balance between flight time / takeoffs and landings). Of course, if you change to the Cub or another aircraft, the flight times will differ. Using real world weather will also affect the flight times.

Are these based on any of the around the world trips that people have been following in the forums?

No. Just based off my own research and various lists of things worth seeing, although there would be some similarities with routes taken through some particular areas as they would be the obvious route to take in a small aircraft (example: Canada - Greenland - Iceland - Faroe Islands or island hopping through the Caribbean)

    Will it visit every country?

No. I am avoiding long over-water flights (apart from the necessary Atlantic Crossing via Greenland) or long flights over areas where there are not many airports or sights to see.

    Installation?

Just drag the contents of the zipfile to your community folder. There are 12 folders in total (10 bush trips + 2 scenery/library folders)

You added in a missing airport but I already have a better version. What is the best way to fix this?

I added in some needed airports so users could run these bush trips without the need to download any extra files. In the event that you have a better version of an airport than the basic one I have made (example - Seward, Alaska PAWD) the best suggestion I have is to delete the one I made from within that bush trip's scenery folder and edit the layout.json file accordingly (there is a drag and drop editor availble for this also - very handy tool). Alternatively you can leave everything in place (I think) but there will be some doubling up of things in the sim (runways/taxiways).

Great work, I really enjoy this. One issue is that I can't get fuel in the second segment wt02. In the first segment, that wasn't an issue but I can't access weight and balance or fuel up at an airport. Any advice on that?
EDIT: I was able to use SHIFT+F to refuel. But am I missing something?

Another impossible landing. Tour #015 Leg 10. Again not on LittleNavMap, but we have a town in Southern Mexico to locate the field. The support pictures look challenging, but perhaps later updates by Bing have made the strip impossible! The location of the trees seem the main problem.

Sorry, can't check or troubleshoot at the moment due to some major pc issues. Trying to fix.

Also, make sure you have the "gamer4805-scenery-wt01custom" (included in the download) in your community folder as this adds in airports missing from the default sim.

Came to an impossible landing on Tour #14, Leg 20, MG01 (not on littleNavMap!) but in town of Molango Mexico.
Runway very uneven (up and Down) and trees a in poor locations . Managed to land my Twin Otter but would not register, even taxing back!! ??

    Great work!
But, I am now in wt004 and I am stuck because a total of three airports (CCW1, CA28, CYBA) are unknown (anymore?) and a landing there is not recognized by the simulator (v1.37.19.0), which means that the leg cannot be completed and therefore the next one cannot be started either.
I have found other wt packages in which individual airports are also unknown.
I would like to continue the bush trip but I don't know how at the moment.

    Hi there.
As these are not default airports, you need to also have the "gamer4805-scenery-wt01custom" folder in your community folder with the bush trips. This is included in the download.
    Hope this helps.

I must have forgotten to copy them or accidentally deleted them later. Now it works. Thank you very much for your help.

    Absolutely fantastic bush trip!
I love every second of it. Flying without GPS and just following the landscape is great fun. The amount of work that went into it must be staggering. I use the BS GA Bonanza though as I don't like the visibility in the DA62. Your bush trip has also inspired me to build my own bush trip focussing on geology...maybe I'll post it on flightsim sometime.
    Thank you for your work!

Thankyou so much - glad you enjoyed it. I would have loved having a DA42 in the sim - much better visibility.

    Hi
Overcame issue described in last post re Mica Creek. Had my MSFS Assist Options set for a better pilot than I am. All Assists allowed me to take off with no problem. Relieved as this is a great bush trip.

Hi - enjoyed the bush trip until I reached Mica Creek. No matter what I do, aircraft collides with something - even during slow taxi. I am therefore stuck at this stage.
I tried taking off in MSFS2020 outside this bush trip with same aircraft - same thing happened.

This bushtrip looks super cool and complete with precise explanations, however impossible to move the plane forward, basically when we spawn the plane is already on ready on the runway, too bad and I can't move the plane , strangle this bug
