Satu Mare Airport (IATA: SUJ, ICAO: LRSM) is an international airport located in northwest Romania, 14 km (8.7 mi) south of Satu Mare municipality, the capital of Satu Mare County.
Satu Mare Airport is one of the first airports in Romania, officially opened on October 15, 1936. The first plane that arrived at Satu Mare Airport was a Junkers 34 airplane, that operated the Cluj – Satu Mare – Oradea – Cluj route. The current runway was inaugurated in 1975. In 1996, the facility was designated as an international airport.
