St. George Regional Airport (KSGU) Airport - Image 1

    Description

This is a recreation of the St. George Regional Airport in St. George, Utah. I used all available SDK objects to add buildings, taxiways, signage, parking and much more. The airport now has taxiway signage that matches the actual airport, or at least as accurate as I can see with my binoculars standing outside the fence :).  I also fixed the taxiway lighting and added the MALSR runway approach lights.  All parking (FBO and off taxiway B) is now painted and setup as departure or destination choices.

I am not a pilot and do not have access inside the airport but if you are a pilot that flies in and out of KSGU regularly and see something wrong with the taxiway signs; by all means let me know, and I will update it.

    *** Please Read

I was helping a friend install MSFS and I realized I mistakenly thought that all the scenery available in the software development kit (SDK) would be included with every base version of MSFS. What I didn’t know was that the SDK also includes scenery from any updates and add-ons you have on your system at the time you are doing development. So it turns out some of the scenery I used was from those add-on and updates and if you don’t have the same updates and add-ons that I used for the airport then you are not seeing all the changes I made. I recently lost my development files for the version you can download but I was able to go through and determined which updates and add-on you will need and I listed them below in the installation section along with what scenery it provides. I also included the file size so you can decide if the scenery provided is worth the disk space.

Installation instructions: Click on the large green download button below. It should be version 1.5. This will start a download counter and when complete, will display a start download button on the pop-up screen. Clicking this button will place a zip file in your download folder or the folder you have chosen with a file name of rb-airport-ksgu-stgeorgeregional_ver1_5_APw0z.zip.

Once the St. George Regional Airport zip file is downloaded:

    • Using a zip program, unzip the file and place the 2 folders contained in the zip file into a folder on your hard drive.
    • Your folder will contain two folders: rb-airport-ksgu-stgeorgeregional and turtletank1997-scenerydevkit
    • Copy those 2 folders into your Community folder. As an alternative to the previous step, you can also extract the folders directly to your Community folder.
    • You will need to download the following updates and add-on to see all the scenery
      • From Content Manger download

        Update II: USA 6.27GB

        - Small buildings located next to localizer and MALSR runway approach lights
        - Orange and white ring around the lighted windsock

Update III: United Kingdom and Ireland 6.39GB

        -One building in FOB
-Light Pole by refueling on taxiway B

      • From Marketplace download

EDLP PADERBORN-LIPPSTADT Airport from AEROSOFT 1.25GB (free add-on)

-Around half the buildings in the FOB
        -Glide Slope antenna and building
        -Lighted Windsock

    • That’s it, open MSFS 2020 and enjoy.

    *********** Changes for version 1.5 ************

It appears at some point the St. George VOR (UTI) object I had for the airport disappeared or is no longer available, so I added another VOR from the current SDK.

    *********** Changes for version 1.4 ************

I updated the terminal parking to reflect the latest changes at KSGU.  They extend the ramp with blacktop next to ramp parking spot 3 and now have a ramp 4 parking spot. They also have renumbered the gates 1-3 with gate 2 now on the jetway, so I updated the parking numbering.  Ramp parking 3 and 4 are accessed through gate 3 in the terminal.  I also added the windsock by the fire station and one by the PAPI lights on the 19 end of the runway.

    *********** Changes for version 1.3 ************

I have added runway distance signs thanks to the scenery library created by TurtleTank1997.  You can find the latest version of his scenery here: TurtleTank's Scenery Developer Objects and Material Library

How well is KSGU working with the new updates? Has anyone tried it?

I downloaded it again this morning and it still has all the changes I added so I would say it is still good to use and I do use it regularly. I have had MSFS loaded on my computer since 2020 so it is possible I might have some old files from the original install that others might not have on their computer and if so might not show all the changes I made. But I believe it would still work ok, just might be missing some of the scenery.

Cool, sounds good. And thank you, St. George is like a second home to me and my family helped settle a decent amount of Washington County in the 1800's,so the area holds a special place in my heart. So it's good to have a better version of the new airport.

Easy download, east install! Looks great. Glad I found it.

I have not downloaded this file yet, but I plan to soon. I moved to Hurricane just over a year ago from IL where I flew in RL. I fly the CRJ900 in the Skywest anniversary livery. You may see me there as Mustang2424. Thanks for making this as there are several buildings missing.

Thanks ChuckGordon and welcome to the area! I plan on updating the airport here soon as it looks like the airport has added more ramp parking at the terminal. I am taking a trip this weekend so will have a chance to see how the ramp parking is now number. This is a great area to fly around in the sim with lots to see. My favorite runway to venture to currently is the Grand Canyon Bar Ten (1Z1) landing on 16. I hope the additions I have made to the airport make it more enjoyable!

Pretty cool little spot. If this gets some texture improvements then I will add it to my list and send some paypal money your way!

A big thank you for improvements made to KSGU scenery. I live in St. George and this is my home base airport. I will be using your scenery regularly. I look forward to seeing additional enhancement to even more accurately reflect the reality of the airport features.

You are welcome and glad you find it useful. I will continue to keep it as current as I can. I use this as my main airport in FS also. 😃

I live in Hurricane (grew up in St. George) and am currently working on the Hurricane airport, 1L8. My KSGU project has been on the back burner for almost a year haha. Your version is very nice also! We may need to have some multiplayer sessions with us locals sometime!

utahjazfan43, excellent, let me know when 1L8 is completed and I snag it!

A bit weird to think Skywest are based out of this city even though they don't operate much, This is the first regional airport in Utah that someone has made, Thank You So Much! Sadly my community folder isn't putting the Aircraft into game so I can't download anything, I hope I can get it fixed soon!

Thank you! Yes, SkyWest is based out of Salt Lake but their corporate headquarters are in St. George and have flights to 4 or 5 major hubs like Salt Lake, Denver, Phoenix, LA and possible Dallas-Ft Worth. Not sure about community aircraft problems in the community folder but I have seen it is recommended that before running updates that you empty out the community folder so there is no conflict so maybe that will help? Again thanks and hopefully I can do a couple more airports in the area soon like Cedar City.

I should try that, I've seen the Skywest hangar at SLC, You can't easily see it from the Parking Garage where I planespot from mainly but it's easy to see when flying in.

I worked for the Midway Connection and their Headquarters were in Springfield IL, the main area of operation was at Midway KMDW. I figure they did that as well as Skywest to save money on Rent!

You do not need to be a pilot to access the airport! If you call the admin office and let them know what you are doing, show some screen shots etc. Someone/security would surely give you a tour and/or provide materials if you ask :)

    Excellent idea, thank you!

Very nice work. Thanks very much for doing this! Looks great.

Thank you! I use this airport a lot learning how to fly the sim aircraft and am happy it looks more realistic. I am looking forward to getting the CRJ 500/700 aircraft next since the majority of commercial aircraft flown out of SGU are SkyWest owned CRJs.

Did not realize at some point the St. George VOR (UTI) disappeared so I added it back in with a stock VOR from the SDK.
