    Description

    SU8 COMPATIBLE !

This mod is a modification of the base DR400 cadet to match with a DR400-140B Dauphin. Note that the 3D model is still the same.

Here is the list of modifications :

    - Engine : Lycoming O-320 155HP
    - Fuel consumption match with real one (~31l/h at 2500rpm at 1000ft)
    - Propeler : Change diameter and pitch angle
    - Mass and balance: changed MTOW and ZFW
    - Added the possibility to add passenger and baggages in the back (in weight and balance)
    - Fuel tank is now larger (160 liters)
    - Engine tweaks
    - New propeller model since SU8
    - new cockpit and gauges textures
    - Simulate more accurately the effect of the lift of flaps 2

    + new liveries

    Update for FS24 pleaseeeee!

Hi again Dranbar, quick update: I managed to fully fix both issues on my side with a very small patch, without changing anything else.

    1. AutoPilot (AP) / trim feels automatic. In both state files, AP was enabled by default, so I forced it OFF. In SimObjects\Airplanes\Asobo_Dranbar_DR400\Approach.flt, inside [AutoPilot.0], I changed MasterSwitch=True to MasterSwitch=False. In SimObjects\Airplanes\Asobo_Dranbar_DR400\Cruise.flt, inside [AutoPilot.0], I changed MasterSwitch=True to MasterSwitch=False. Then I disabled autopilot availability in SimObjects\Airplanes\Asobo_Dranbar_DR400\systems.cfg by setting [AUTOPILOT] autopilot_available = 0 (it was 1). Finally, I removed the artificial gyro stabilization in SimObjects\Airplanes\Asobo_Dranbar_DR400\flight_model.cfg by setting, in [FLIGHT_TUNING], pitch_gyro_stability = 0.0 (it was 0.25), roll_gyro_stability = 0.0 (it was 0.25), and yaw_gyro_stability = 0.0 (it was 0.25). After these changes, the aircraft no longer "returns to level" by itself and trim works normally.

    2. Unrealistic left roll with the new prop implementation. This one was harder to find, and it was driven by the new prop roll moment scalar. In SimObjects\Airplanes\Asobo_Dranbar_DR400\engines.cfg, section [PROPELLER], I changed prop_mod_moment_scalar_roll from 1.0 to 0.184. With 0.184, the exaggerated left roll is gone while keeping the modern prop model and the rest of your work intact. (I also noticed that if I lower this further, towards 0.0 or very close to it, the aircraft starts showing a small tendency to roll to the right instead.)

Thanks again for the mod, hope this helps if/when you decide to push an update.

Hello thanks a lot for what you did, it is great!!! I will test it next time i fly this one

    Hi Dranbar,
First of all, thanks a lot for your DR400 releases! I see that several other users commented about a left roll problem, but I don't see any answer to that. So in case you see my comment and have time to consider it, let me tell you that I could find a couple of different problems:
    1. One related to the Approach.flt and Cruise.flt files ([AutoPilot.0]) where it seems that some autopilot is set to ON by default, thus forcing the plane to go back to zero attitude and bank angles. I managed to switch it to off by setting several lines to False.
    2. The other related to the fact that the plane has an unrealistic left roll (I understand it to be not realistic, correct me if I'm wrong) that seems to be favored by low speed and high engine power with centered ball, and persistent at rather high speed where one would expect the propeller torque effect / left-turning tendency to be negligible... This I did not manage to get rid of yet, especially since I don't want to drop all the realistic engine and dynamics work you have done.
Would you have any advice, if you don't have time to update your mod? Thanks again!

I put it to community folder, but MSFS doesn't see it...

    Hi McRousseaux,

When you extract the .rar, you probably get a folder "DR400-140B-dauphin_SZJFA". The content, with at least "aircraft-dr400-140b" (and if you want a livrery color, e.g. red, then "liveries-asobo-aircraft-dr400-140b-red" too) of this folder must be put inside the Community folder, not "DR400-140B-dauphin_SZJFA" itself.

    Good luck!

Hello!!! This one is very nice, but on FS20 i have encountered one big problem of stability. The aircraft goes on left side and i have to counter it with the pedals almost full right. If you can check and solve the problem it will be great!!! Oh i forgot, the VOR is not functional too.

    Thanks a lot!!!!

Would be great to make it compatible with MSFS2024!

Hello ! Sorry for the delay, I plan to make it fully compatible with 2024 using all the new physics

Is this compatible with MSFS2024 ?

    Not fully yet, sorry

    A bientôt.

    Bonjour !

    Merci par avance.

    Zero instruction to install.
    Useless.

PUT IT IN THE COMMUNITY FOLDER, LIKE ANY OTHER MOD!

Honestly, you just embarrassed yourself with such a silly, petty comment.

Many Thx from Warstein in Germany for this wonderfull aircraft :-)

    Bonjour,

    Merci d'avance

    Robin DR400-140B Dauphin

A modification of the base DR400-120 to match the performances of a DR400-140B Dauphin which is more powerful. Many improvement were done to the flight model to match the real flight caracteristics of the plane. Now with the new propeller simulation introduced by the SU8 which bring more realism.
