    RAF Bassingbourn USAAF 1943 MSFS2024 - Image 2

    Description

This MSFS 2024 scenery is an historic recreation of RAF Bassingbourn UK, during the occupation by USAAF 91st Bomb Group.

During the Second World War it served first as an RAF station and then, with extended concrete runways, as a bomber airfield of the Eighth Air Force of the United States Army Air Forces, known as USAAF Station 121.

Created as authentic as possible using available documents and photos of the base from the period. It is currently still the property of the MOD, and therefore many plans are still restricted and current photography around the site is still prohibited.

It features many custom models faithfully recreated, including hangars with auto animated doors (activated on approach) and modeled interiors, with the ability to spawn your aircraft inside.

Many other spawn points are near hangars and at many dispersal sites.

Installation is the standard procedure, unzip and add the folder "mick-airport-exbs-raf-bassingbourn 2024" to your 2024 Community Folder.

***PLEASE NOTE*** THIS VERSION IS CREATED FOR MSFS 2024, A SEPEARATE DOWNLOAD IS AVAILABLE FOR MSFS 2020 below

***KNOWN ISSUE/ CONFLICT WITH ADDON "BIJAN STUDIOS BIJAN-SEASONS-ENHANCED"

When RAF Bassingbourn 1943 - 2024 is installed, and the Bijan Seasons addon is also installed,
there may be a conflict causing decolourisation of the runways and taxiways.

Please read the text file included in the Docs Folder of your download for suggested solutions.

Outstanding. A friend pointed me here since my uncle survived 35 missions out of the field in 1943-45... lucky guy. He is 3rd from the left in top row "George".

Just wanted to say that as a WWII reenactor I appreciate all the fantastic details that you put into this! The metal heat pipe shields on the pyramid tent are a really nice touch!

I was being serious. I just assumed MSFS substitute the checkerboard texture for missing files. Please forgive my stupidity...

    Hey no problem!

I took your comment as a joke because often people joke and I take them serious lol

On the YouTube video at 3:57 there's a missing texture on a rather large vehicle. I am missing that same texture. Any ideas how to repair that?

Surely you don’t mean the red and white checkers of the Runway Control Caravan? I mean, that is the texture! I think you joke 😂

Hello ChikoMick? After extracting the files from the winrar zip, and placing them into my 2024 community folder.. nothing shows up? maybe i8 have missed an extra step that i should have taken? who knows..
*** DISREGARD... ! DISREGARD!!! I took all of your needed files, but not the actual airfield itself lol, all good now ... I will now extend a MASSIVE thank you for all of your hard work here, it is seriously appreciated by myself, and i KNOW thousands of others too ;)

Some unzippers embed the folder in an extra folder of the same name...
Check this by opening the bassingbourn folder in Community, you should see six scenery folders and two json files, this is correct, if you see another single Bassingbourn folder then this is the problem.

    Ah ****DISREGARD...!!!!

Actually? the Actual Bassingbourne was a seperate download as i see it now> but, all together? WOW! this is a serious bit of kit published here ;)

What happened in My case was just that.. i taken all the reuirements, and not the actual airfield, but then i saw this, and downloaded the airfield itself? and then BOOM.. it all came together like peaches n cream ;) Sooo Happy now that i have another airfield from you! Rarrrz ;) I believe that "Hundreds" if not more? Will actually pay for what you do with MSFS Airfields? Absolutely!

Stunning scenery. thankyou. One issue though, getting blue / purple taxiways. Is this a cache issue ? Mine is on the right, with a demo video from Youtube on the left, which is what is should look like I assume.

Hi, I am working on a fix for this, it should be ready soon but I'm held up with finishing because MSFS keeps crashing!
When it is ready for testing perhaps I can get in touch with you to check it out :)

    RAF Coltishall

    RAF Coltishall

RAF Coltishall is a simulation add-on for Microsoft Flight Simulator that recreates the former Royal Air Force base, specifically during the 2003/04 period when it housed the Jaguar force. While the scenery is a work in progress and not yet fully complete, users can still operate from the base. Future updates are planned, and although designed for MSFS2020, it may function in MSFS2024, pending further testing.
