This freeware module is intended to be used with CowanSim H-125 helicopter as a realism enhancement mod.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
To anyone using FFB devices and reporting the centering issue:
The TRIM RELEASE button is absolutely NEEDED and it has to be binded (MSFS event -> ROTOR_TRIM_RESET) as it is present in the real HeliSAS (trim release) and also in my recreation.
It basically does 3 things:
1) It unlatches the servos from the cyclic allowing a free (basic helo) cyclic movement and behaviour.
2) Upon Trim Release (TR) release, the system takes the new attitude references...avoid using it will cause the SAS using the same (old) attitude references, with the resulting uncomanded (centering) movement.
3) In my code, the TR release action is also used to memorize the new cyclic center in a way the deltas over that position are read as the new cyclic inputs
Actually this described sequence is closer to how the real system works, once the TR is released, the servos re-latch to the cyclic keeping the new position, hands-off.
So, the behaviour in your FFB should be,like this:
- SAS OFF -OR- TR pressed -> small oposition forces (only friction / damping) to stick displacement but not centering
- SAS ON -AND- TR released -> higher forces and behaviour similar to a springs joystic. In reality, the servos resist movement in a manner similar to the joystick springs, and when the controls are released, the cyclic returns to the position "memorized" by the servos.
In the SAS version (real thing) you need to either keep the TR pressed for manoeuvering (less cyclic forces and no stability augmentation) or to fly "through" the SAS (higher forces with stability augmentation) BUT in either case you need to release (always in the 1st case) or quick press-release the TR (2nd) at the new attitude when the manoeuver is finished, otherwise the servos will recover the "memorized" pre-manoeuvering positions, and the system will keep "recentering stick".
FWIW I have my Brunner configured with a button that sets SAS ON / OFF and, at the same time, via CL2Sim (native Brunner SW) it switches between soft forces (SAS-OFF no servos acting) and hard-forces springs like (SAS ON). The TR button is also configured at CL2Sim in a way it releases or clamps the stick at the new position. This is is done by CL2Sim but surely will be done the same by any other FFB device.
In short....in my mod like in the real HeliSAS, the TR button (MSFS event -> ROTOR_TRIM_RESET) MUST be used in either of the 2 ways I have described above.

-In Cold and Dark state the fuel valve lever is pulled in (fuel shut), as I understand that lever is for emergency use only and after pulling it there is a plastic part that breaks on purpose, basically it's not intended to be used as On Off switch freely by the pilot, it should not be touched in normal operations
-As other described, the cyclic position jumps to the center momentarily when collective position is adjusted. It's not jumping to the center of all axis, just to the center of X axis, Y is untouched. The problem occurs regardless of Servo transparency and SAS FFB settings set in the config file. It also can be observed with dark aircraft with no systems turned on. It does not happen in the default Cowan's H125 without your mod. Please let me know if you need me to record a gameplay that shows the issue in action.
-It's probably an issue with MSFS2024 flight model engine, but on Air Zermatt's heliport LSEZ when trying to depart to the north there is a sudden loss of lift, as if the ground effect was too strong and flying of the edge of the helipad the loss of the ground effect causes the helicopter to sink into the ground. Contrary when approaching the ground effect kicks in very violently and throws the helicopter to the air
Thank you for your work, this is a great mod. One suggestion is to adjust the Uility version's weight so there is no added weight punishment, I know that version comes with a crate but that's not why I personally use that version, I just want the utility interior (utility floor), so in case the crate is somehow populated via one of the config files, please consider adding the crate as an option via your master config file and thus giving us an option of a lightweight utility version with no crate loaded and no added weight (if anything I wouldn't be surprised if the utility interior weighted less than the passenger version).

I will check what's going on with the SAS in non-FFB devices in the next releases. My development has been now focussed on FFB version and that's why probably I missed the issue you mention (non-FFB device, right?)
I wil look into the Utility version as well. I read some comments regarding it at Cowan's Discord but haven't had time to implement in the last version (v8.2).
Loss of lift: custom sceneries can cause issues with my custom ground effect (Asobo took A LOT of time to ...fix it?). I will check it.
Reviews: I think you can rate the mod at the end of the new version comments I think..I know it's over there.

No, I am on a FFB joystick, but for the sake of debugging, you can treat my case as non self-centering joystick, because I use SimFFB to simulate Force Trim independent of the sim. I do not have Force Trim Release or anything like that binded in MSFS2024, only proper axis. Let me know if you need anything from me to find the reason the problem occurs for some of us.

I see you updated the description of your mod and added the note about "ROTOR_TRIM_RESET" being necessary, I have followed your instructions:
1 I have binded the same button I use for TR in SimFFB (the button that "releases" the trim forces for as long as it is being held), in MSFS I used this button for "ROTOR_TRIM_RESET" and I used "Input repetition" ON (although I also tested it with "Input repetition" OFF just to be sure). I have at this point quadruple checked all Axis to make sure they are not duplicated. Axis are set up as follows:
Cyclic- SET CYCLIC LATERAL AXIS: JOYSTICK LAXIS X, SET CYCLIC LONGTITUNAL AXIS: JOYSTICK LAXIS Y (input repetition ON, can't be turned OFF, no curves)
Collective- COLLECTIVE AXIS: JOYSTIC LAXIS X (Set inverted axis ON, input repetition ON, can't be turned OFF, no curves); I have also tried setting Inverted axis OFF
Anti-Torque pedals- RUDDER AXIS-JOYSTICK RAXIS Z (it's called Joystick axis, but it's pedals for sure, input repetition ON, can't be turned OFF, no curves)
I only have mouse, keyboard and Tobii listed (I have deactivated Tobii, it's greyed out, I am not using it)
2 In the config file I selected "sas_improved_ffb=1"
3 I tested using collective_filt= values 0, 0.5 and 1 just to be sure (I think with the value 1 the problem was the least invasive, but maybe it's just a placebo)
4 I tried using both servo_transparency value 1 and 0 (each time I made any changes to the config file I was repeating those steps: saving the file, using the AeroUpdater and using the Layout Generator, I just wanted to make sure I leave no stone unturned)
The results are sadly the same as before- any collective input will move the cyclic's X axis input to 0 momentarily. It happens in both SAS ON and SAS OFF. In input viewer I can also see it even when aircraft is on the ground cold and dark. If I move collective up and down a little bit constantly, the cyclic will effectively only be moving in the Y axis, because X will be movING to the center constantly until I stop adjusting the collective. Any TR button state during above changes nothing, it happens when I hold the TR button while moving the collective, when I am not pressing TR at all, when SAS is ON or OFF.
Now all that being said, I actually don't consider the problem to be terminal, I am still enjoying the heck out of your work regardless of the issue and I will continue to do so. I am saying this because I don't like how I am turning the comment section into a negative feedback loop, it shouldn't be like this when the rest of the mod is so good.
Once again please let me know if there is anything you want me to test, or anything.
