    Douglas C-47 Dakota - RAF "Kwicherbichen" - Image 1

    Description

80 years ago today, men crossed the english channel to start the west advance that would end nazi-fascist tyranny.

This C-47A Dakota was nicknamed "Kwicherbichen" by the crew when assigned to Royal Air Force No. 233 Squadron, then part of the Transport Command, had the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion attached to them and based in RAF Blakehill Farm.

During the D-Day preparations, their mission as part of Operation Tonga, was the preparation and placement of the landing targets behind enemy lines to hinder the enemy response capacity. In the next days "Kwircherbichen" would provide emergency service airlifting the wounded back to England.

Today the ZA947, originally a Canadian Air Force C-47, pays tribute to the Royal Air Force, flying the Kwircherbichen collours.

This version includes textures with cockpit, cabin, custom cargo, ground equipment and textures for formation flying.

Thanks for the great livery! Good to see an RAF contribution for D-Day! One small nit-pick, though .. I think the starboard side of the fuselage only has "UK" ... no flags or other decals ...

Thanks a bunch for this livery and thank you for beginning work on the C-47. I think there is some work to be done on the new one as I took it up this morning and could not get the glider tow livery to work. Other than that, it has the same feel in the air as the DC-3

Thanks mate, it looks like the C-47 files are encrypted so I could not make the livery for for this version YET, nevertheless it is 90% based on the DC-3 so there's no reason why Ms/Asobo/AH wouldnt allow us to do liveries for this version too.
I would appreciate a 5 star review so this livery gets more attention, thanks again!

Hi mate, the C-47 version is working now (at least the livery, the glider towing is still a mistery to me)

Waouh !!! 3 rd plane today, it's a war production ! Whisky 7 is already flying between LGSK and LFML for a test flight of 7 hrs, all is perfect on board. For the DDay livery, there is something wrong with the texture... The wings and the both engines are OK but the body ( all the fuselage ) is pink... Not a good idea for the battle :)

Thanks for the head's up mate! The D-Day Doll is getting an update right now!
