Description
Introduction:
Capitán Fuentes Martínez Airport (SCFM) is the main air terminal in Chilean Tierra del Fuego, located next to Los Cisnes Lake and approximately: 5 km (2.7 nm) north of Porvenir, 8 km (4.7 nm) east of Tierra del Fuego’s coast and 39 km (21 nm) east of Punta Arenas (on the other side of the Strait of Magellan). Its main purpose is to provide cargo and passenger services to the province, even allowing medical emergency operations and helping the development of local tourism.
This airport is located at 53º 15' 13'' S, 70º 19' 09'' W at 32m (104ft) above sea level. This high latitude explains why in this airport strong winds and rapidly changing weather are common. It has 2 intersecting asphalt runways to facilitate crosswind landings: runway 09/27 of dimensions 2,500m x 30m (8,202ft x 99ft) and runway 03/21 of dimensions 960m x 30m (3,150ft x 99ft). It also counts with a control tower and lights to operate runway 09/27 with low visibility or at night.
In MSFS, SCFM does not exist since a cloud covers half of runway 09/27 and its surroundings in BingMaps. Given this, this airport had to be made from scratch with the elements included in the simulator's generic library and MrMo's "EDHK Lights & Objects Developers Pack”. Due to the fictitious terrain created by the simulator to cover where the cloud is, there could be some lag during the final approach to runway 27 (hopefuly in the future, new satellite images will be taken and changed in the simulator by Asobo). A model of the vintage aircraft next to the parking lot made by Totof33120 is also used, so for it to apperar, his asset-pack must be also downloaded (totof- aircraft library).
To install: Delete the previous version and drag the following folders to your community folder (* the last two are downloaded separately):
▪ werepug-airport-scfm-porvenir
▪ EDHK_Lights_and_Objects_Dev-Pack_by_MrMo *
▪ totof-aircraft-library *
IMPORTANT: After V1.4, the folder name was changed from “scfm-scenery” to “werepug-airport-scfm-porvenir”.
Version 1.0:
- Reconstruction of the real airport with its 2 runways, parking, fencing, control tower, roads, lights, nearby buildings, antennas, among others. Everything according to satellite images, airport photos and DGAC.
- Both runways have yellow markings as in real life (because it makes them easier to see in snowy conditions).
I tried to cover and hide the large light-green area that was left in place of the cloud in BingMaps (however this is seen in the GPS as a black spot given that I had to use aprons to do it, in exchange for a more natural-looking terrain). - The 3 windsocks the airport has along runway 27/09 were added.
- Many improvements were made to the city of Porvenir, with a new Plaza de Armas, illuminated sports fields and a new pier. Also, some boats were added nearby, as well as antennas on the south side of the bay. All this counts with lights at night.
- A generic Porvenir Bay Lighthouse was added and tweaks to the Porvenir Port were made.
- Water was added to more than 450 lakes, lagoons and ponds in the vicinity of the airport and northwest coast of Tierra del Fuego that were not properly rendered by default.
- Two cars and a walkway were added next to Laguna de los Cisnes at the entrance of Estromatolitos Park (a national natural monument).
* Posterior version's descriptions are included in the changelog and guide included in the download.
** The Chilean Army aircraft livery for the Cessna 208B that can be seen in some images of the scenery was made by Panther Repaints (BigGazza).

Very good job ! Looks very nice. However, after SU9 or maybe WU9, I get a broken airport name on MSFS Menu.
Thank you! And about that name problem I'll check it out, maybe it broke with WU9, because with SU9 it was working fine as long as I checked, thank you for letting me know!

Indeed... I think you are right since I removed it from my Community folder to check and I still got it listed with a broken name so it's probably MSFS anyway.

Hello! I love this scenery and the new terminal building. Unfortunately, I have a big mountain at the runway intersection and I don't have any other scenery for this place installed so I believe it may be the terrain data updated by Asobo. I haven't seen any recent comments about this so it must be only me or a relatively new thing for everyone.
That's so weird, to be honest I haven't had time to update the scenery (like making a new terminal building) so I haven't checked for any incompatibilities with Asobo's latest updates. I'll check it out and let you know if I find anything

I'd appreciate if you could send me a message with a photo of the problem to know what to look for :)

Version History
• SimUpdate 8 compatibility. • The folder name was changed from “scfm-scenery” to “werepug-airport-scfm-porvenir” to coincide with the new nomenclature and so that you may find all my freeware together in the “Community” folder. • Lago Azul, Laguna Borrosa, Laguna de los Cisnes, Lago Serrano and other 2 more lakes, were completely remade. • The airport’s meteorological station was added (special thanks to Cobras6265 who made the model and allowed me to use it). • The images previously included with the downloaded folder were removed to make it a smaller file.
