North American Rockwell OV-10 Bronco - Image 2

    Description

The OV-10 Bronco is a twin engine, twin tail boom multi purpose airplane developed in 1968. It was developed for reconnaissance, forward air control and light transport missions. It is a single pilot airplane but has a second seat for an observer or instructor behind the pilot. The plane has a cargo-bay that can be used to drop paratroopers. The Bronco was liked because of its ability to fly low and slow.

    Dimensions:
    Wingspan    40.0ft (12.2m)

    Length         39.7ft (12.1m)

    Height          15.1ft (4.6m)

    Engine
The bronco is equipped with two turboprops producing around 715 hp each. They share one fire extinguishing bottle.

    Propellers
Each engine drives a tree blade, constant speed, counter-rotating propeller. Pitch and reverse thrust can be adjusted using the power levers.

    Performance
The Bronco is known to be a little underpowered, especially in warm weather and with high takeoff weights.

    Known issues

    • Power/Condition Lever logic.
    • Engine start logic.
    • White registration decals. Removed decal.
    • Sound (all aspects).
    • No ice visible in icing conditions. Manual advises strongly not to fly in icing conditions.
    • No side view propeller blades.
    • Fast taxi speed (is realistic but the normal mitigating action is not working).
    • No spinning spinner.
    • Not able to crash? I have looked into this but can not find the solution.
    • Wipers on on other Bronco's in sim. Standard Asobo template.

    Tips and tricks

    • Checklist working (please support feedback). Nice to get to know the Bronco better.
    • Moved the tips and tricks to the manual.

Thank you for this amazing plane Ariebaba!
It's a hoot to fly and looks great. I would like to get some advise though: when this plane gets into a spin I am completely unable to get it out again. It feels like the rudder and elevator do not have enough authority to stable the plane into a nose-down attitude to regain airspeed. It stays in an unrecoverable flat spin. Is there a specific method to recover from a spin with this plane that distinguish it from other planes?

...hi - after a few months - everything is allright. Arrested ParkingBrake was a doublebind of my keyboard. After I have all bindings deleted that somhow connected with Brakes or braking - your sim works. The "Problem" with opening the canopy - hmm. If you click it or hover the mouse-pointer above it - a circled icon appears - direction left or right. If you click this - the canopy should open. That worked for me once - and then not again. Doesn't matter......

this aircraft is soooo cool! i love this and only flaw i think there is, is that if your cockpit interaction mode is on Legacy, you can't open the canopy, and it's pretty annoying, else it's awesome, very maneuverable and very light, i had to get used to it XD thank you for this wholesome model!

I might have a look at it to see if there is a easy fix in the future. Thx

Hm. I'm sorry, but it doesn't work. Unable to put throttle-levers to the "retard"-mode. I know this AddOn from FSX. The Starting-Procedure is completed, engines are running, throttle up to accelerate - but t.o.- speed reamins at 50. What I'm doing wrong? Cockpit windows will also not open, also scroll-wheel is operated.... .

    Hi F104,

This addon was never intended for fsx. It is made for fs2020. I flew it with fs2024. That went surprisingly well.

You could check a few things; 1. Is parking brake off? 2. Are the two levers right next to the throttle levers full forward?

    Thanks for trying my addon.

Hi to you - I know, that it is only for 2020/2024. I wrote - I KNOW it from FSX. Parking Brake is the problem. As soon I operate the pedals, the parking-brake arrests. I must deactivate it with "CTRL" + "." via keyboard.
    Again and again and....
    Thank you for reply.

    Hi,

I've had your Bronco for a while now and I have to say: Excellent! I have payware addons for the MSFS 2020 that are significantly worse than what you have given us here. Thank you very much for that!

    Is this compatible with 2024?

I was stationed at Binh Thuy in the late 60's and we had Bronco's there. I would sit along the revetments and watch them as they taxied out in the early morning. Loved the sound of those engines. A favorite of that era and I've flown them in FS9, FSX, P3D and now, thanks to you, in MSFS. Well Done!!

I'm at a bit of of loss as to how to configure my Bravo Throttle Quadrant for the OV-10 Bronco. I've tried condition levers and propeller axis, neither gives me full control. There a mention of a Manual, but I haven't been able to locate it.
