Porto Airport - LPPR

Description:

Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport or simply Porto Airport is an international airport that serves the region of Porto, Portugal. The airport is currently the second-busiest in the country, based on aircraft operations; and the second-busiest in passengers. The airport is a base for easyJet, Ryanair, TAP Air Portugal and its subsidiary TAP Express.

The airport around Porto opened in 1945 and was initially known as Pedras Rubras Airport, after the name for the locality where the airport is located: Pedras Rubras. It was renamed in 1990 after former Portuguese prime minister, Francisco de Sá Carneiro, who died in a plane crash when he was traveling to this airport on 4 December 1980.

Airports Council International Airport Service Quality Awards voted the airport Best Airport in Europe in 2007. Additionally, it has placed in the top three of Best Airport in Europe a further nine times – winning second place in 2010, and third place in 2006, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016.

Porto Airport reached 10 million passenger per year for the first time on 6 December 2017 and surpassed the 15 million passenger in 2023.

This addon replaces the autogen version of the airport with a detailed realistic version with custom realistic buildings, full runway and apron lighting and even some custom buildings near the airport. This project is being made with extensive research and even some visits to the airport, in order to make it the most close to reality.

I will try and keep it updated reflecting the changes in the real life airport.

• Custom realistic airport terminal and airport related buildings;
• Custom ground markings and taxiway signs;
• Full custom lighting in the apron and nearby zones;
• Added true approach lighting and VASI (PAPI) lighting;
• Custom animated radar building;
• Ground textures who replicate asphalt patches and differences in the pavement;
• Realistic elevation and terraforming;
• Other custom props and clutter;

Dependencies:

• MSFS2020: needs at least the 40th Anniversary Update, the World Update VIII Iberia and City Update 7.
• MSFS2024: no dependencies

Compatibility:

• Compatiblewith my other addons (LPVL, Porto Landmarks ...), MSFS 2024;
• Not compatible with MKStudios LPPR or TropicalSim LPPR.

• Soon: Update to MSFS 2024, Update main terminal textures;
• Soon: Add LOD's.
• Soon: Update buildings to match 2025 airport changes (Bigger DHL building, Ryanair Building, ...)
• Planned: Add remaining buildings (Catering, Hotel, Fuel Station, ...)

NOTE: Project NOT abandoned. Needed some time while I focus on another project and gain experience to continue with the updates.

Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport or simply Porto Airport is an international airport near Porto, Portugal. It is located 11 km (6.8 mi) northwest of the Clérigos Tower in the centre of Porto, in the municipalities of Maia, Matosinhos and Vila do Conde and is run by ANA – Aeroportos de Portugal.
