    Description

Thanks to Deacon211 for comissioning this livery, it is an honor to pay tribute to the meb who flew the RD4-1/C-47s in Guadalcanal!

This package includes 8 liveries, and since we are celebrating the 79th annyversary of the D-Day, I am publishing here my first real C-47 liveries.

The liveries in this package represent aircraft of Marine Air Group 25, which flew the RD4-1 (the Marine version of the C-47 and nicknamed the "Flying Boxcar") throughout the Pacific Theater during WWII.MAG-25, as part of the joint Army/Navy/Marine Southern Pacific Combat Air Transport Command (SCAT), was founded in June 1942 and provided rapid transport of personnel and cargo, assault support, and aeromedical evacuation to and from forward areas in support of campaigns ranging from Guadalcanal through the Philippines.

These liveries were inspired by aircraft pictures and drawings as provided by the MAG-25 site (https://www.marineairgroup25.com/) and reflect actual wartime aircraft. Many of these were procured from US Army C-47 pools or otherwise pressed into hasty service during the darkest days of WWII and were repurposed for service with the Marines. With scarcely enough time to paint over previous identification marks (which were prohibited by early Naval Air regulations, to include nose art) these aircraft were a mismatched lot and are shown as they would have been seen during their most desperate, and most distinguished service.

For the service during the battle of Guadalcanal, MAG-25 was awarded with the Distinguished Unit Citation decoration, and was decativated in 1947 before returning for service during the Korean War.

By no means a "game breaking" thing, just something I noticed- from external view, the pilot and copilot seats have the pink placeholder texture. The seats appear as they should in cockpit view, though. I noticed this both in the hangar showcase and in-flight. If it makes a difference, I'm currently using the Duckworks DC-3 mod as well.

Otherwise, these liveries look great! Killer job

I must admit I've never known much about MAG-25, so thanks for pointing me toward the website. These paints are fantastic, and a worthy tribute to the Devel Dog flight and ground crews. Bravo!

I'm not sure what you could update: these are perfect as they are! May I ask one favor? Could you include one or two restored "clean, unfaded" versions for use on the modern airshow circuit? That would really butter my toast!
