    Description


    Egilsstaðaflugvöllur to Vestmannaeyjar
    It’s the depths of winter in the the land of fire and ice meaning only 4 daylight hours and pretty chilly temps. The weather’s extremely changeable with snow flurries and stiff winds forecast but the TBM 930 can handle it and it should make for some spectacular views. Fly the route from Egilsstaðaflugvöllur to Vestmannaeyjar on the island of Heimaklettur before the 4 hour day is over and make a few challenging landings along the way.

    Leave Egilsstaðaflugvöllur on Christmas day at ~12.35.

    What a great bush trip! As an Icelander myself, I enjoyed it a lot in the beautiful and powerful TBM! Rough winter weather, as it is supposed to be, accompanied by the beautiful winter solstice, makes for challenging landings. And you even spelled most of the Icelandic names correctly!

    Great sightseeing. Only problem: a couple of the strips in the middle weren't possible to find. No trace of'em. Could it be the new(?) winter mode interfering with them?

    A couple of the strips were really difficult to spot when I flew it myself. I'll have another fly of it and see if it still works and report back.

    Yeah I see what you mean, Thorisos and Þórsmörk are incredibly difficult to see now. They're visible from the air but only just as they're covered in snow and by the time you get to about 500ft all you can see is white. Not really possible to complete without the AP now unfortunately. I'll have a play with the seasons and weather and see I can get them to show up a bit better. Thanks for letting me know.

    I just bought MSFS a few days ago and when I was looking at the official Bush Trips I kept thinking Iceland would be a perfect location then I just stumbled onto this. Can't wait to try it!

    Just completed the trip. It was excellent - a great alternative to the lots of Bush Trips offered with same aircraft and same weather. Thank you for making this! Just wish this was a little longer in terms of visiting cities etc, but what IS here is great. Love it.
