KHEF Manassas Regional Airport for MSFS

The latest airport developed by VTOL Aviation, is KHEF Manassas Regional Airport ! HEF is a Class D airport residing under the IAD Dulles Class B. HEF is overwhelmingly a General Aviation airport, with over 98% of the average 236 operations per day fitting in the GA category. HEF is the largest regional airport in Virginia, which shouldn't come as a surprise given its close proximity to IAD, DCA, Washington, DC, and the rest of the Northern Virginia region. 401 aircraft are based out of HEF, as well as 26 businesses ranging from flight schools, avionics shops, and maintenance facilitiies. APP Jet Center and Chantlly Air function as the airport's FBO's (NOTE: Chanitilly Air is currently not modeled in this version, that will be in a future release). Additional close proximity to a Virginia Railway Express station as well as continued steady growth for over 90 years ensures that HEF will stay a staple of NOVA!
This airport is free to use and always will be, no matter what additional edits we make. If you use this airport in a stream or other creative media, all we ask is to receive credit for the airport. Please do NOT upload elsewhere without our permission. In order to ensure that people get the best quality freeware, we are handling releases in a very particular way to ensure that it's easiest for us to manage hotfixes. Custom assets developed for this airport may be used in other airports. However, credit to VTOL Aviation is required to be given.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
- Download the zip file.
- Inside the zip file is a zip file titled "vtolaviation-khef". Inside this zip file is 1 folder titled "vtolaviation-khef". Drag this folder into your MSFS\Community directory.
- That's it! Fire up MSFS, then go to World Map and search for KHEF
Future releases are expected to add additional custom assets, add the new Chantilly Air FBO, and more.

Finally someone gave Manassas some love! I live and work nearby as well. In fact, I was chilling in the little gravel pull-off area watching a few planes come and go while eating lunch the other day. This place is magical!

That's awesome! While I'm putting this airport aside for a bit to work on other projects, if you happen to get any photos around the airport that might be helpful, I'd definitely appreciate it!

Great job at revamping Manassas! I live nearby this airport and have flown out of and visited it numerous times. The default MSFS setup was less than adequate but you've totally remade it to look much better. Would it be possible though to add some life to it with maybe some parked static planes from some of the new libraries released? The airport has all the new parking sports but it looks sparse for such a busy airport.

Hey BPilkerton22! When I build airports, I try hard to minimize the amount of 3rd party libraries that I use. In fact, I do my best to avoid them all-together. Eventually, I'll probably build my own library, but I have worries regarding the future and compatibility of libraries that I don't control down the line.
That's one of the reasons I try to put down so many parking spots. If you turn up your ground aircraft density, they'll populate fairly well. I agree, it isn't perfect, but I'll make it a priority in the future to build out a library of aircraft.

That makes perfect sense. I'm just starting to try my hand at modifying airfields, unsuccessfully I may add, so I'm sure I'll come across that issue as well. In any case, thanks for the response back!
