    EGFD Llanbedr custom built

    Continuing my efforts to improve the North West of England and North Wales, here is Llanbedr on the west coast of North Wales.

    There is already a concept version : https://flightsim.to/file/6922/llanbedr-airport-egod-the-gateway-to-the-mach-loop by Photosbykev with his underground fast jet launch tunnel.  Kev is quite happy for me to produce this custom built "real-life" version - just make sure you don't have both versions loaded at the same time.

    I have hand crafted all of the important buildings - tower, flying school hangars, entrance, etc. I have obliterated the worst autogen buildings (especially the horrendous high street shops!) and just left one or two of the reasonable autogen approximations.

    Lots of detail added, and I couldn't resist a couple of visiting Hawks from Valley.

    v 1.1

    Recompiled to ensure compatability with SU5 (and SU6)

    v 1.2

    Adjusted height to ensure compatability with SU7

    v1.3

    Sorted terraforming issues due to SU12 and recompiled.

    v 1.4

    A bit more tweaking to sort out "lumps and bumps".  Still small dip where runways cross but seems OK now.

    v 1.5

    Amended ICAO to EGFD as per the sim.

    Recompiled for SU13.

    v 1.6

    Finally (!) sorted out the lumps and bumps.  Whole airfield flattened so not exactly true to life but runways and taxiways all seem to be OK.

    Skelly, old Chum. Great News! The test version you gave me some time back now works in 2024. In SU5.1 most of the terrain issues have gone away apart from a few bumps in some periphery areas. The Runways and apron are flat. The MSFS hangars are still showing under your ones but all in all useable as is and me thinks only a few minor adjustments would have it good to go.
    Please, is there any chance you could take a look????

    Major terrain issues with FS24. So bad I removed this scenery until it gets FS24'd.

    Missing Llanbedr still. With SU4 implemented MSFS 2024 is now stable. With your new PC hopefully soon will be the time to dabble in the new stuff?

    Hi Skelly,
    The 2024 issues still remain and Llanbedr as such unusable. I just bought Burning Blue Designs Welshpool and suggested they give Llanbedr a go modelled in its Hay-Day around the 70's.
    Referenced your fine work as the best of the bunch and along with others hope they will pick it up as the true gateway to the Mach loop.

    Sorry I've been unable to do anything with Llanbedr. I've been v busy IRL. However, I've finally treated myself to a new PC, and will be giving 2024 a go soon. If I can find the time, I'll get onto it as soon as I can.

    Almost 4 months into 25 and LLanbedr 2024 still looks pants!
    As it was only elevation issues, one wonders that if you removed the mods you made to flatten out the 2020 version it might be a quick fix for 2024?.........Ever hopeful, your No. 1 Fan. 😉

    Hi Skelly,
    Any News on Llanbedr?
    I tried your sightseeing files in 2024 and so far so good.
    Went up close to Portmeirion and never realised you even put a bouncing Alien in there.
    Made I larf. When they were filming The Prisoner, some mates and I bunked off school & went to watch them filming and they put us in charge of rounding up the Aliens as they kept blowing away down in the estuary. Briliant fun. Half filled weather balloons are a tricky thing to get hold of even when there are 4 of you as they tend to wobble and just cover you as you try to grab them.

    Good laugh for your Portmeirion tale.

    I'm still holding off 2024 - but sounds like good reception for forthcoming SU1 so may jump in the coming weeks.

    I was hoping the sightseeing mods would play nicely in 2024 without much (any) tweaking. Good to hear your trials so far are positive.

    Will let you know a soon as I give 2024 a go.

    Tongue in cheek I added my home ex RAE LLanbedr to MSFS 2024 just for a larf and it almost worked. It didnt crash and loaded OK except that all the main buildings at the Hangar end of the field were on top of massive cliffs! The Control tower was fine.

    As this is my home airfield I was wondering if you were going to give it the skell magic touch?

    I'd even pay for a 2024 version of this field!!

    I intend to give FS2024 a whirl after Christmas when the initial problems are hopefully ironed out. I'm hoping there's not too much needed to adapt things. Bear with me - I'll put Llanbedr at the top of the list for the New Year.

    This is my No1 favourite airfield.
    As a child in the 70's I used to holiday in the farmhouse at Brwynllynnau Farm, Harlech with my parents and grandparents. We had a great view looking over Llanbedr. My grandfather would take me and my brother to the lower field where we would stand and watch the jets come and go.
    Memories! Many thanks skell300 for reproducing this wonderful ex-RAF airfield, and stirring some amazing memories. I so look forwards to future updates

    It's always safest to remove earlier versions - I've had so much trouble with this mod that I wouldn't want any old rogue file causing problems !

    Yeii, Back to FLAT! Well done and don't knock yourself it is pretty flat in real life all the way up to the sand dunes. So it looks like I remember it and check it out on Google Earth you'll see just how flat it is. They didn't used to mow the grass but let the local farmer graze his sheep on the airfield when no flying! Only thing left I could possibly ask for is if you could restore your extra parking slots on the apron and peri track surfaces? But whatever, it is a great job ! Thanks. 🙂👍🙌
